Here's a selection appearances by 8-bit computers. "Codename Icarus" has what appears to be a slightly modified Commodore PET 8000 series machine. There are brief appearances of a Televideo TS-803 in "Thrillkill" and a Kaypro 4 in "Brand New Cherry Flavor". Finally an episode of "Full House" (the British one, not the American) has a pivotal role for an Acorn BBC Micro.

Today was another day where I spent some time on debugging my wonky Commodore 8050 floppy drive. I did more cleaning, testing, swapping of mechanisms, and nothing REALLY worked. Apart from the fact that lying on its side the drive 0 would work better, but not perfectly. Doesn't that sound weird? It would suggest a mechanical issue which "fixes" itself by gravity, so to speak. Right?

From the looks of that, Unscii already has both of the glyph sets, and Markus Neeb's changes aren't adding any new glyphs (just putting some PET ones into the C64 set) so don't make a difference.

I'm already getting the text mode guttering by dint of the 7by7 font being rendered into 8by8 bitmaps. (-:

Worked up my courage to work on the 8050 again tonight. The video shows a pretty stable, albeit slightly slow drive mech. The center ring should be perfectly stable. It is drifting ever so slightly clockwise. However my potentiometer is already maxed out. This is probably the old motor giving everything. :)
I can lower the resistor feeding into the pot a bit. That should give more current to the motor.

I use the PET font for normal and the BBC font for boldface on a framebuffer-realized user-space virtual terminal, and they work quite well. The BBC Micro font has thicker stroke widths than the PET one, so fulfils the rôle of boldface nicely.

Square home computer fonts were made for this, of course.
