#Mudlark finds *I have a PLA Foreshore Permit for the Thames Foreshore, Do Not Search the Foreshore Without a License*

The chunky rainbow-y, sometimes golden covered olive glass is probably victorian/edwardian beer bottles (but so pretty!), a bunch of plain pipe stems and fairly plain broken pipe bowls. I'm more interested in the larger pieces of pottery.

A hand holding a chunk of weathered glass that has a geometric pattern on ita chunk of possibly victorian pottery bed warmer bottle, or jug of some type.a display of mudlark finds from the Thames Foreshore. There is a partial blue and white tile, some other pottery, some broken clay pipes, broken thick old bottles and some ironmongery in the form of a broken scissors handle, a bit of rivet through metal plate and an old, long nail. There is a metal measuring square at the bottom for scale. The same display of mudlark finds from the Thames Foreshore, as previous photo but some of the pottery pieces have been flipped over to show the other side.

Backstage, in the staff room, at the botanic gardens and admiring the collection of found objects from the site. A large, chunky clay pipe, suggesting tobacco was reasonably priced at the time this was made.

Last pic is an Australian native pomegranate 🩵

The flowers look like lots of white small stalks bunching out from a centre point, similar to the flowers from eucalyptus trees.

Found this... some one or somethigs real or fake jawbone with a load of teeth? Not really sure. #london #thames #southbank #mudlark #teeth

Looks like a rotten wooden jawbone with 5 old human sized teeth in it. Held in my hand, against a backdrop of the gravel River Thames foreshore.

Recently went to London and did a mudlarking trip. Here are some of the pieces we found along the Wapping stairs near where was executed. Transfer ware (blue willow), pipe stems (along the bottom), westerwald, potentially a piece of medieval pottery (green piece in the middle), and who knows what else.

Blue sky and blazing sunlight – a prelude of Summer. Bird song and Spring colours and a hint of freedom in the #air. In my mind, I #switch scenery to days when I would #mudlark in the slobs.

This one day I'll ignore the debris of a broken life.

@jrcarpenter Should I get to tag along with a mudlarker this fall (PLA has suspended new permits) I would hope to find just such a coin,…and a few clay pipes…and something Roman… #Mudlarking #mudlark

We went hunting for sherds along the East Lyn River on Saturday, and we found a few nice bits and bobs.

Considering this coin has been in the Thames mud for 250 years it hasn’t worn down too much! Find a lot of #georgian coins whilst #mudlarking but never tire of seeing them laying on the surface.

It’s only January, but this may well end up being Mud Historian's (Malcolm Russell) #mudlarking find of the year: a miraculously mostly complete Roman cup. A less common form. Now having its contents x-rayed at the Museum of London. #mudlark #archaeology #romanbritain #history

Weird find this week. Could be anything from Roman to 18th century. Will update post once I get to the bottom of it!

Where are my at? I miss seeing the fascinating discoveries.

I found this fragment a few years ago in the sea near a ancient temple on a Greek island called #aegina. I knew it was something but only when a saw the little animal in a museum a few years later did I find out what it was.
Dating back around 3400 years it was a fragment a Mycenaean terracotta bull. Swipe to see one sold in Christie’s and the crap photo I took.
Amazing to see the colour has lasted so long.

I’ve found a few of these, they were made to commemorate the marriage of Charles II and his wife Catherine of Braganza, in 1660. Two hearts and a crown, this is a button. I guess they didn’t give out key rings back then!

A view from the #thames at low tide. This is the largest archeological site in the world, just under the best city in the world (for tourists). Down here, it is calm and full of #history #mudlark #treasure
