I did a search on Duck Duck Go for "tutor mentor planning" today and my site showed up 5 times on the first 2 pages. I do this often as a way of learning who else is doing similar work.

Do your on search using different words than 'planning'. Like ,

This is the first page of search results on the Duck Duck Go site when searching for "tutor mentor planning". My website shows once on the first page and five times on the second.

Here's another #Tutor #Mentor blog article that focuses on expanding the network of "who you know" for kids living in areas of concentrated poverty. tutormentor.blogspot.com/2023/09/buil... #SocialCapital #NetworkBuilding

Building youth networks.

I've used this graphic since 1990s to show how #mentor-rich, volunteer-based programs can expand the "who you know" network for kids living in areas of concentrated poverty. See tutormentor.blogspot.com/2022/04/maps... #SocialCapital #NetworkBuilding

This is a Tutor/Mentor Connection (1993-present) and Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC (2011-present) graphic showing how organized, non-school, volunteer-based tutor, mentor and learning programs can expand the network and opportunities for kids living in areas of concentrated poverty. This is a form of bridging social capital.

Anyone use #LinkedIn and need to build a network? I've been using #Dripify for a while now and have grown from 2,000 to nearly 6,000 connections in only 12 months. Whilst I haven't been using it for sales it does include so great scripted tools, like looking at profiles, following, recommending and automatic messaging. If anyone is interested I'd be grateful if you use my affliate link dripify.io/#a_aid=bodsoftware #LinkedInSelling #NetworkBuilding

This is from a blog article about & .

Since the late 1990s I've used email list serves, Yahoo Groups, Google +, Twitter & other social media in effort to "connect people to ideas & each other". That's why I'm now on BlueSky, too.

This is part of a Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC blog article about Ecosystems

So let me sum up.

1) the world is dealing with complex problems and some people are creating great visualizations showing this complexity;

2) some people recognize the difficulty of collecting and sharing social service information and are trying to innovate new solutions;

3) knowing "who" should be included in a directory, or in an "invitation list" is part of the problem in a big city like Chicago; getting them to come to "your event" or into "your conversation" is a huge challenge if you're not well-connected, or have a reputation that draws people to you. Getting into "their conversations" and "being heard" is just as difficult.

4) I find very few people creating visualizations of who should be connected, or who they are bringing together via their events.

5) even if you have a list of "who" unless you do some sort of network analysis of event participation and/or social media conversations, you don't really know how well your network is connecting.

I'm sure readers might list more problems. I'd love to hear from you.

These are steps to solving any problem. View on homepage of tutormentorexchange.net Open each section.

Use the ideas to help youth in your community. , ,

This is a view of the upper left side of the home page of http://www.tutormentorexchange.net

It has a progression of steps used in problem solving, starting with understanding issues. I focus the site on helping volunteer-based tutor, mentor and learning programs reach k-12 youth in high poverty areas of Chicago and other places, so the next topic on the list is information about "distribution of tutor mentor programs and uses of GIS maps".

I focus on , & in many /#Mentor blog articles. Take a look. tutormentor.blogspot.com/searc

Scroll to bottom and see how I add additional links as updates to these articles.

In many of these I focus on "knowing the network, or 'who' needs to be involved" in order to achieve success. My articles point to tools that can be used to collect and share this type of information.

The book titled, The Starfish and the Spider, illustrates the T/MC role as a catalyst in building a decentralized network of leaders who support volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs.

Role of Catalyst in Building Network. In a book the role of a catalyst who inspires the growth of a decentralized network of people focused on a common goal is described. This is a role Dan Bassill, founder of the Tutor/Mentor Connection (T/MC) (1993-present) and Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC (2011 to present) has taken since 1975.

The chart below illustrates how volunteers and leaders reaching into their own networks on a regular basis, can draw volunteers, donors, partners, etc. to information hubs like the http://www.tutormentorexchange.net web site, then on to various neighborhoods in Chicago, or any other city, where they become volunteers, donors, leaders, etc. at existing programs, or where they help form new programs to fill voids.

I posted this article about on my blog in late February 2012. In the article I introduce two men who I had met 10 years earlier.

Shortly after writing this I began connecting with educators on Twitter, via , , events. I'm still connected to some of these people here on Mastodon, and still on Twitter.

This is a February 2012 article on the Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC blog. It describes network building as an on-going process and introduces two people who I had met 10 years previously.

@harold

I expect each person has different reasons for the amount of time they spend on social media.

For me it's always been related to the mission of the org I started in 1993 to help inner city kids in Chicago connect w volunteer tutors & mentors in organized non-school programs.

Having led such a program for the previous 17 years I knew the importance & challenges of "getting more people involved".

This is one of many articles focused on #networkBuilding. tutormentor.blogspot.com/2022/

This graphic shows how one person's idea can spread to thousand of people around the world, as a result of consistent network building over many years.

Find it in article at https://tutormentor.blogspot.com/2022/10/network-building-can-you-do-this-too.html
