Diese Aufnahme zeigt die lange, gepflasterte Mole im Hafen von Calais, die in einer geraden Linie direkt in den dichten Nebel des Ärmelkanals führt. Ein Mann mit dunkler Kleidung und hellem Haar geht einsam in der Bildmitte vom Betrachter weg auf das im Dunst verborgene Ziel Dover zu. Der Weg unter seinen Füßen besteht aus grobem Kopfsteinpflaster, das nach vorne hin immer unschärfer wird, bis es sich im Grau verliert. Zur rechten Seite wird der Steg von einer massiven, steinernen Mauer mit abgerundeter Krone begrenzt, während auf der linken Seite ein schlichtes Metallgeländer Schutz bietet. Da der Nebel jegliche Sicht auf das Meer oder den Horizont schluckt, verschmelzen Himmel und Wasser zu einer grenzenlosen, weißen Leere, die der Szene eine tiefe Stille verleiht.

Welgemoed oder Rooiheuwel? Beide Gästefarmen sehen in der Tracks4Africa-App vielversprechend aus (außer, dass beide auch um Trophäenjäger als Gäste werben), beide liegen an der gleichen kleinen Hinterlandschotterpiste irgendwo zwischen dem Karoo-Städtchen Fraserburg und der Karoo-"Metropole" Beaufort-West. Bei dererlei Gästefarmen ist es ratsam, vorher Kontakt aufzunehmen. Manchmal gibt es sie gar nicht mehr. Oder sie werden gerade renoviert. Oder die Campsite ist gerade überflutet worden.
