The "OHFF Park Rally" took place last weekend. I activated OHFF-1004, a beautiful island QTH just outside of Turku in southwest Finland. Thanks to Kimmo OH1CM for enabling the required boat trip.
Tammo island is uninhabited and magical. Lush green vegetation, a fox and deer greeting me upon arrival, and birds singing enthusiastically (ramp up the volume on the video!) as background to the band audio. Enjoyable.
About 220Qs made around OH and Europe on 80/40/30/20m CW/SSB. Tnx!
Pedal powered activation today (.. well and a bit electric as always, which wasn't bad as there were some crazy hills on the 30km trip).
I used max 10W to linked dipole without tuner. This might be a winner combo!

It's time to start packing my backpack.
Soon I'll head into OHFF-1101 to take part of SSA Portabeltest and do WWFF activation.
I can't self spot myself during Portabeltest so find me on bands.
Last sunday I went to activate an ATNO WWFF ref in an island that was only accessible by own boat. It's a big island next to Tampere City and is very popular during summer time - boats leaving there each hour.
This time it was totally empty. I was the only person there. That was even bigger ATNO for me. Also never went there by paddling.
Water was +5C deg, sun was warming and the fauna was going nuts, birds singing so loud.
That was a very special activation trip.

My first bicycle activation for this year. I had already forgot how superb it is to go to spot by bike. Fresh air, moving scenery and just rolling the pedals. I missed this so much for whole winter!

In Finnish WWFF groups (OHFF) there seems to be awful fuzz about ATNO refs.
Today OH3KRH was activating three ATNOs and roughly same time I was activating a non-ATNO. Both of us were using CW & SSB.
Still, we were on par on amount of QSOs. I could have snatched maybe 20-30 QSOs more but I had to QRT, couldn't go through few bands/modes.
I have been experiencing this before, there is little difference in ATNO vs non-ATNO QSO counts.
Today a sunday WWFF activation at OHFF-1598, just some radio + nature therapy. Band conditions were overall nice. Especially on 30m I had constant pileup.
122 QSOs of which 62 on CW.

Snowy WWFF activation today in totally silent forest. No sounds of cars or anything. Absolutely nice.
There was constant light snowfall which covered my radios with snow. Forest had more snowfall than I expected so getting to spot needed a bit more effort! Temperature was -6 degrees celcius. Very nice, yet again I had some tea with me.
After the activation I went looking for radiosonde nearby. No luck, probably covered by the snow.
107 QSOs of which 46 with CW. OHFF-1207.
Tea powered WWFF activation today in -2 deg celcius, light snowy forest. OHFF-1819 "Hepomäki".
Brought my new thermos-cup full of herb tea and used my self built lightweight 40-20m EFHW 1:49.
67 CW QSOs and 31 SSBs.

OHFF activators have activated over 100 refs during January 2025.
Total 17 activators with roughly 12k of QSOs (so on average 120 QSOs per ref).
That is just awesome thinking that we are middle of winter here in Finland. Temperatures have been mild this winter so that might helped a bit on the numbers.
I cannot imagine what kind of mayhem there spring and summer will be!

Office view from todays WWFF activation of OHFF-0529 which was last activated 76 months ago. When I got there, I understood why.
I use Logitech Pebble keyboard together with PoLo on my phone. Also I seem to like neon color 3D printing filaments. IC-7300 with batteries fit just fine to my backpack. It is actually very portable radio.
We've been on winter vacation in Finnish Lapland this week, and today I managed to quickly activate OHFF-0024, Pyhä-Luosto National Park. My brother-in-law came along to see what this amateur radio craziness is all about.
I don't like the cold, but Jouni @OH3CUF encouraged me to try not working from the car. The WX was fortunately not too bad: a little above 0C but quite windy.
Made QSOs almost exclusively on 40m SSB/CW with OH stations, as a demo of the hobby. Thanks all! #wwff #ohff
