This evening's 45mins of hobby time revolved around pin washing with Abteilung's Sepia, and cleaning excesses. On this mini the earlier gloss varnish (or clear coat, whichever) made a huge difference for the better.

Now the thing is drying in the sauna, hopefully half-safe from dust. Maybe I have to give it more than 24h before a matt varnish. The weapons aren't 100% accurate, but I don't mind that much.

Hah, I managed some 45mins and got the bases covered in Vallejo's mud and the Jade Falcons pin washed, with Abteilung's Sepia.

Now they wait in the sauna for a few nights, at worst until the first full week of May.

Eight minis photographed in sauna. The minis are just set on top of a box while the acrylic mud effect and the oil wash dry. They are not organized nor posing, simply seen from above.

And then one of the cats knocked the damn thing to the floor. Nose wheel broke and the repair looks like it was AI-generated 😅

I applied a yellow-grey-buff dot filtering on the top, used some Industrial Earth on the bottom and satin varnished the thing. Too shiny, will do a matt one later. And after that I'll drybrush some black on the Vulcan port, maybe the vents too.

The view of the engine nozzles of a 1:72 scale model F-15E that has been weathered to look somewhat dirty.

A reattached, badly broken front landing gear of an F-15E that looks more like a thing made up by an image generator than a real plane model. The wheel is glued onto the gear strut instead of the attachment point, as the proper part snapped off and was lost by cats.

A high-angle front-right view of the F-15 model, the satin varnish makes the model look a bit shinier than an actual plane so that has to be knocked down a notch. The model is set on a well-worn green cutting mat.

Instead of a finely controlled and elegant pin wash I covered the whole F-15E model in a dynamic thinness wash of Abteilung's Sepia. After a bit of time I cleaned it mostly up. There's still more to do, and I'll use some dot filtering and/or buff later on some bits, and a bit of Industrial Earth on the underside. I think 😄

The drop tank gluing sucks badly, and the left landing gear came off. This fiddliness aggravates me to no end.

Went to Leeuwarden to pick up a set of #OilPaints for #MiniaturePainting. That was 30m on the road, 30m getting informed and finding the best colours for my purposes, and 30 minutes return journey. And then I cleaned yesterday's brushes with thinner.

Pushed the white highlights on my #InfinityTheGame model for #FediPaint and am still enjoying #OilPaints.

However, let the record (the macro shot, that is) show that i need to invest in more expensive paints (these are the cheapest from Action - Dutchies and Germans know) and better brushes (these are AliExpress cheaps i had lying unused for years).

Started on my #InfinityTheGame model for #FediPaint and used #OilPaints for everything but the primer.

Ofc it's very rough on a tiny model and only the result of ~30m, but I'm really enjoying this! Can make blends like a wild Rembrandt, and get really interesting results without a lot of effort (yh i know I've got some waiting to do lol)

Some progress on the Blood Spirits. Touched up sandy bits, added more red panels, placed dark grey metals here and there. There are also some shittily freehanded Clan and Galaxy roundels.

These have a layer of Abteilung Sepia on them since yesterday evening and they're flashing in the (cold) sauna, maybe I get to clean them up today or tomorrow. Oils are awesome.

Five OmniMech miniatures painted in the sand yellow basecoat with red highlights -scheme of Clan Blood Spirit's Alpha Galaxy. Each 'Mech has both the Clan and Galaxy insignia badly freehanded on them.

These have got a dark brown pin wash freshly applied on them, and they are a bit glossy because of the wet oil paint. Minis are placed on a well-worn cutting mat and are facing more or less to the bottom left.

Simple basing done for the #customized Mongrel A, standing next to its Starmates Summoner and Hellbringer from the 25th anniversary box. After this I still had to clean up some of my excess #OilPaints that cast a bit too strong shadows in places. Almost done now!

The base was a bit too dark red, so I blended in some Abteilung's Dark Rust and Light Rust #OilPaints for a bit more ferrous Mars look. I also fixed a couple of yellow ochre bits that showed on photos but didn't catch my awful eyes.

And then the hex base's edges I painted German Grey, with Yellow Ochre caution stripes. Maybe the only thing left is pulling the rusty dusty feet down a bit. That and applying some gloss varnish where needed.

Doomguy Urbie miniature just about completed, viewed from a low front angle. Its base has a stronger rust colour now to make it look more Marslike.

A simple, quick base for #DoomguyUrbie: a piece of gravel, Woodland Scenics' ballast, three shades (1) of Abteilung 502 #OilPaints and now it's waiting until tomorrow evening for the oils to dry. I remain confident in tolerably Mars-y results.

I thought of adding a couple of wash-thin Grass Green drops for Baron of Hell blood but we'll see 🤔

(1) Dark Brick Red base, some Oxide Patina highlights and a touch of Industrial Earth for shadows.

1: Doomguy Urbie's unpainted base made of a piece of gravel and some Woodland Scenics' ballast glued on the hex base.

3: Doomguy Urbie's base with ABT260 Oxide Patina oil paint highlights in higher points.

2: Doomguy Urbie's base covered in ABT220 Dark Brick Red oil paint for some Marslike redness.

4: Doomguy Urbie's base with the final ABT090 Industrial Earth oil paint shadow touch-ups. Some of the base's oil washes got spread on the lower legs to tie it down.

Maybe the #DoomguyUrbie is about done now, with a bit of Abteilubg 502 Green Grass #OilPaints blended on the upper green parts.

I attempted red jeweling on the Small Laser and the AC/10 targeting laser, and a bit of blue jeweling on the tiny vision slits. Could've been worse in confined spaces.

Now I imagine all that is left is the base, and it ought to be Mars-themed as well, even if Doomguy never set foot on the planet itself 🤓

UrbanMech painted in homage to the original Doom cover art, front left view. The Small Laser and the Autocannon targeting lens have been jeweled with red, while the canopy viewports have been jeweled with blue.

The #DoomguyUrbie got some stupid attempts at the classic UAC logos freehanded. Greys on grey, not my brightest idea 😅

The Abteilung sepia pin wash improved the overall look. I think I'll try some green grass oil dots the next time I can paint 🤔 When those are all done, I can ruin some details with my amateurish jeweling skills 💪🏻

What's a good colour for non-weapon lenses like scanners and targeting equipment? Non-laser red maybe?

An UrbanMech mini painted a bit like the original Doomguy. Sepia oil wash applied and cleaned up, and three attempted UAC logos freehanded on the legs. Miniature viewed from front left.

My saga of the mine-clearing T-34/76 is about to end. I applied some Abteilung 502's engine grease on a few road wheels and the strange boxes in the rear. Thinking it'd work fantastically I added some Abteilung buff dots on the centers of a few top hull panels and whatnot, then blended that down, over two sessions to tone the effect down a bit.

Missing some final fixes anymore. The tracks were a bit of a letdown as expected from vinyl tracks.
