Imagine bringing a video game to real life. You are the player and interact with other players - other real people. The setting? A real place - might be a part of a city or multiple ones, where you have to travel to, looking for clues or actions to perform. This is the essence of ARGs, and people love them.

More stately mansions [1967]
1 print (poster) : lithograph, color ; 56 x 36 cm. | Poster for "More Stately Mansions" shows Ingrid Bergman, Arthur Hill, and Colleen Dewhurst in a scene from the play.

loc.gov/pictures/item/20076835

The image is a promotional poster for an adaptation of Eugene O'Neill's "More Stately Mansions." The poster has a stark black background with text and images in red, white, and some blue. It prominently features the names Ingrid Bergman as Arthur Hill (spelled incorrectly), Colleen Dewhurst, and others involved in the production like José Quintero who directed it.

There are two main photographs on the poster depicting scenes from the play. On the left side is a black-and-white photograph of an intimate moment between a man and woman where their expressions convey tension or emotional conflict; the man's face is up close to the camera, showing concern, while the woman looks away in contemplation.

On the right side there are three people: Ingrid Bergman with her hair pulled back tightly into what appears to be a bun style typical of late 19th-century fashion. She stands behind Arthur Hill who has his face turned towards Colleen Dewhurst as if he is speaking or reacting to something she says; both men wear period clothing suggesting the story's setting.

Below these images, in smaller print and white font on red background, are additional details about the production such as its premiere date at a specific theater. The overall design of this poster aims to attract potential audiences with vivid colors contrasting against black while highlighting key actors involved in what appears to be an intense drama or period piece.

Lorenzaccio. Sarah Bernhardt, anno domini MDCCCXCVI 1896.

loc.gov/pictures/item/95504816/

The image depicts an ornate poster for a theatrical performance titled "Lorenzaccio," featuring Sarah Bernhardt. The design is reminiscent of Art Nouveau, with flowing lines and intricate patterns that create a sense of movement and elegance.

In the central portion of the poster, there's a portrait of Alfred de Musset, holding what appears to be an open book or manuscript in his hands. He is dressed in dark-toned clothing adorned with gold accents and ornate jewelry, exuding an air of sophistication and drama. Above him, large decorative text reads "Lorenzaccio" along the top edge.

The background features a rich tapestry of colors and intricate motifs that include floral patterns, foliage, and stylized figures which contribute to the overall artistic style. The bottom part of the poster includes additional information about the play, stating it's an adaptation by M. Armand d'Artois from Alfred de Musset's work "D'alfred de musset" (Anno Domini MDCCCXCVI 1896). At the very bottom in smaller print is a note indicating that this was printed at F. Champenois, Paris.

Overall, the poster combines elements of illustration and typography to create an evocative visual representation intended to attract potential theater-goers with its striking design and prominent depiction of Sarah Bernhardt as the star performer.

"A #cultural event in a #Polish town honouring a local #Jewish #composer has been cancelled after organisers said they received a “wave of hate and threats from #antisemitic organisations”, stoked by far-right leader and member of the #European Parliament #GrzegorzBraun.

Reports of anti‑social behaviour fall again in Swansea city centre

Partnership approach credited with success

Figures released by Swansea Council and South Wales Police show a 12.1% reduction in reported anti‑social behaviour during the 2025 school holidays. It follows a 38% fall recorded in 2024.

The improvement has been linked to joint work between the council, police and more than 60 partner organisations, who ran a programme of activities for young people at the pop‑up Collaboration Station in St David’s Square.

Over the summer, 98 events, workshops and activities were staged, including an intergenerational festival that drew more than 900 people for a day of music and performances.

Police highlight Operation Daylily

City Centre Inspector Andrew Hedley said the policing operation, known as Operation Daylily, had built on last year’s success.

“We have been able to build on the success of last year to successfully reduce anti‑social behaviour even further,” he said.

“The already established strong partnership working has again been integral to the success of this operation. The addition of a pop‑up base further added to this success in providing a safe and cohesive space for all to use and importantly, signpost relevant people to.”

Inspector Hedley added that while the reduction was positive, more work was needed to make the city centre “a better place to live, work and visit which is free from those intent on causing crime and anti‑social behaviour.”

Council praises young people’s role

Cllr Alyson Anthony, Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, said young people had played a key part in the summer programme.

“People can sometimes be too quick to criticise young people, but they brought real energy and some great ideas to the sessions and activities,” she said.

She added that the Collaboration Station work was in addition to “hundreds of free and low‑cost activities for children, young people and families funded by the council across all areas of Swansea.”

Council leader thanks partners

Cllr Rob Stewart, Leader of Swansea Council, said:

“I’d like to thank the police for their enthusiasm in working with us and indeed all our other partners who played an important role this summer.

I think we can all be pleased that there has again been a reported reduction in ASB over the school period. This shows these partnerships really do deliver for all our residents.”

A iniciativa irá selecionar oito propostas artísticas do Maranhão.
