Services are verbs combined with nouns

Information architecture normally focuses on the objects that need to be represented in a system. Some human-centred practitioners focus instead on the tasks users need to do. These approaches are sometimes framed in opposition. But combining these techniques can make services and systems easier to use as well as more efficient to manage.

"Stop Explaining Things Wrong—Do This Instead"

Most engineers skip the #1 rule of technical communication.
Spoiler: It’s not about what you say, but who’s reading it.

If everything is “disruptive,” nothing is.
Let’s retire buzzwords like impactful, pivot, and cutting edge and lead with language that earns trust.

🚨 New blog post: National Party attacks accessibility for disabled people.

The Government is repealing the Plain Language Act — legislation that protects the rights of disabled people by requiring public info to be clear and understandable.

This repeal directly undermines accessibility and inclusion.

The Department for Education #PlainLanguage standard for digital, data and technology #Services.

“The use of plain language ensures fair access to information. It makes #Content easier to understand for everyone. It can also help to reduce the users’ need for additional support, which can save the user time and the department money.”

NEW POST: I'm begging you. Use plain language.

Whenever the public has more questions than answers, when they observe people unable to explain things clearly and succinctly, or sense you are not telling them everything, they will lose trust. And that’s on you.
