Talking about #arXiv #bioRxiv, one weakness is that there is no "flag" to indicate whether PDF is a #preprint or the post- #peerReview #postprint. I am surprised at the lack of attention on this.

Although I have my reservations on the quality of #peerReviewing in general, I believe it should be a point of attention of an institutional archive to make sure the file is post-peer review, or, if that version is under paywall only (which is a problem), state it at least.

@Wolven
Yes, definitely. I'd add three points.
1. This should be a reminder to academics too, not just non-academics.
2. Don't merely ask for the #preprint. Ask for the #postprint (version approved by peer review).
3. If you're an author receiving such a request, do send a copy by email. But at the same time, deposit a copy in an #OpenAccess #repository (#GreenOA). That will help all who need access, not just the tiny subset willing to hunt you down, write, and ask.

Now out in @CurrentBiology -- our paper on cortical pattern amplification with learning, w/ @KanakaRajanPhD 🧠📄

Below in thread: Huge perceptual improvement. No vis resp changes. Simple recurrent model. Relationship to recent S. Peron lab paper. +more.

What does it mean? Biological recurrent networks in vivo can change to accommodate totally new patterns of input. We provide those artificially w/ optogenetics.

@sortee @royalsociety great to promote paper versions but #arXiv already does that. It is customary in math and some other disciplines to do minor updates there. And you can do major ones if you like too. Surely #EcoEvoRxiv can help since it is also a #postprint server. Probably more suitable for literature corrections than GitHub (which is definitely useful for code correction, but not enough alone).

New #OpenScience question by Cord Wiljes:

“Do publishers allow green OA to supplementary material?

[…]

Does his also cover supplementary material, i.e. research data that has been submitted by the author(s) to the publisher and that is available on the publisher's website, but only after paying for access to the paper?”
