This initiative is designed to encourage individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, have low vision, or have other disabilities to join us as we prepare for RSAA25 - helping to ensure our online event is as accessible and inclusive as possible.

Given that some members of our organising committee are blind or have low vision, we will prioritise applicants who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have other types of disabilities, to help bring even greater diversity of experience to our accessibility work.

@dams we hired two research software engineers and they were clearly the top two from the applications. I had already worked with one and we had a good recommendation from the other and hired them without a technical exam.

They were both fantastic: one has moved on and the other one's moving into more of a leadership role, which is great to see.

Huh, I must've missed the announcement.

@swheritage is now providing citation metadata to download as #BibTeX and use via #BibLaTeX (biblatex-software) for archived software with a CITATION.cff file or codemeta.json in the root directory! ๐ŸŽ‰

Very cool!

#CitationFileFormat #SoftwareHeritage #ResearchSoftware #SoftwareCitation

Screenshot of the website for a snapshot of the repository for the Citation File Format project in the Software Heritage archive.

A popup windows protruding from the right-hand side of the browser window that has been made visible by using the "Citations" tab shows the citation metadata for the archived version we're currently looking at.

The metadata is in BibTeX format, and using the biblatex-software "@softwareversion" type, a "Copy citation" button and text explaining what to do with the content of the popup: "This interface enables to generate software citations, provided that the root directory of browsed objects contains a citation.cff or codemeta.json file. Select below a type of object currently browsed in order to generate citations for them."

The types of object to choose from are "directory", "revision" and "snapshot".

Behind the popup, a view of the archived version of the repository shows a list of files, including a CITATION.cff file, some repository metadata on top, and a navigation bar to the left.

We need your input! The Research Software Infrastructure (RSI) Forum is focusing on use cases to explore how various #ResearchSoftware activities intersect with the broader research software ecosystem. Weโ€™d love to hear your thoughts on priority use cases and where youโ€™d like to be involved! Check out some use cases below and share your feedback:

1. Identify a software project
2. Cite software
3. Track funding
