Mit zunehmender technischer Entwicklung erweitern auch Polizei und Justiz ihre Methoden: ob es erst die Fingerabdruckspuren waren, später die DNA-Tests und nun, mittels künstlicher Intelligenz, sogenannte digitale Rig, eine Abstraktion des menschlichen Skeletts.
An der Verwendung in Strafverfahren gibt es fundierte Kritik, insbesondere an Professor Dr. Labudde, der das Verfahren in Deutschland maßgeblich entwickelt und finanziell verwertet.
Ein weiteres zweifelhafte Verfahren aus Sachsen, nachdem schon ein Polizeidirektor im Verdacht steht, es bei den Ergebnissen seiner Forschungen zur angeblichen Fähigkeit von Mantrailer-Hunden, DNA- und Geruchsspuren zu detektieren, mit der Wahrheit nicht so genau genommen zu haben.
