Barn, Lyons Ranch, Redwood National and State Parks. Built circa 1898. This image is from yesterday at just after noon with strong sunlight illuminating details on the face of the barn. Hand-split wood planks and occasional metal components tell stories to researchers, historians, and artists. The colors of the wood are generally greyish-brown, though late afternoon sunlight can bring out an array of colors in the wood. Some of the metal elements may have a bit of rust but everything is in good order, testament to the original construction and the ongoing maintenance by NPS staff. Blue sky and green trees appear in the background.

This image was taken yesterday in the Lyons Ranch Historical District in Redwood National and State Parks. In the center of the image is a barn on a hillside, with trees in the background, all under a blue sky. Vegetation around the barn has been freshly cut. A single tree grows next to the barn, which is constructed of large redwood planks. The construction date for this barn is circa 1898. Wooden shingles cover the roof, which has an intriguingly angled roofline. The trail to the barn starts at about 2500 feet in elevation and descends through several sections of oak woodland. Prescribed fire was used on the nearby prairies by the Lyons family as a part of their sheep ranching operations.

Assisted the Butte #PrescribedBurn Association with some piles near Berry Creek yesterday. This land was burned in the North Complex, so we helped down some trees, clear brush and burned. Big thanks to the Butte County Resource Conservation District for organizing and the #Fire & #Music Project for performing.
