I know we're in a Depression because every time I have to spend money, I get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. And I have to nerve myself up to check my checking account balance, because there's a good chance that it's negative.
And I don't answer calls from unrecognized numbers, EVER, because I've talked to enough bill collectors.
Even ONE bag of groceries costs $50. Everything I buy has shrunk in size and increased in price.
My income never even came CLOSE to keeping up with inflation - even the bullshit inflation numbers put out by the government.
And my apartment no longer feels like my home; it's a temporary camping ground that I could be evicted from at any moment, at the landlord's whim.
That's life in modern America.
It sucks.
