the Torment Nexus isn't the worst thing we could make, we are happily creating a much bleaker dystopia right now.

the worst thing we're happily constructing is the Simulacrum Nexus, adding smoothed edges that hide and lie to us about our rough, nuanced world. reality hidden under layer of layer of convenience and simplification and false expertise and knowledge. to simply be tormented would be a kindness instead of to become untethered from reality, tormented by false pleasures, enthusiastically choosing torture every time because we are so lost from what is real.
