This was my first time trying a cover crop for weed suppression in the garden, and I think it's been a success!

My lazy method was to let some volunteer grass grow tall here over the winter and strim it when it had green seeds, around the end of March. Then I covered it with a tarp until it was time to plant beans in mid May. This spot previously had frequent mullein, herb robert, and grasses.

I am Eden, I am #NewHere, and I like making things grow.

My particular interests include #TreePruning (think: fruit orchards, but also espaliers and bonsai when I'm feeling particularly spicy), figuring out how to grow a #Garden on a plot that is almost 100 % sand and gets little to no rain in the summer months, #BuildingSoil, and collecting interesting vegetable varieties (bonus points if they are black/purple or variegated).

I am a mix of about 50 % idealism and 50 % cynicism. The world is going to shit, but… that doesn't mean we can't try to have nice things while we watch the world burn.

We must also immediately embark on the project of carbon #sequestration via a programme of #soilbuilding on a unimaginably gargantuan scale that would quite literally dwarf by several orders of magnitude any previous human undertaking in recorded history, for us to have even the slightest hope of avoiding global cataclysmic catastrophe.

I possess zero optimism that humanity will pull its collective head from its own arse and act significantly, let alone comprehensively, before it is too late.
