So unfortunately I do not think I'm going to be able to stream putting together my DIY #SteamController #OpenSplitDeck due to only being able to spend a single day actually putting it all together. I can't fit the whole build into one stream and I need to be away from home for part of it.

I take it back about #syncthing https://github.com/syncthing/syncthing/tree/main/etc/linux-runit Mostly: it should be simply `export SYNCTHING="/usr/bin/syncthing`.

Decided to use my old #SteamController, which made it easy. The #VoidLinux `steam-udev-rules` package is useful for this. Or does it work without it? Shrug.

I made #DeckyLoader work with #runit, but it’s store is currently unavailable (just for me?) so I can’t test it. I also don’t know how it is updated.

- Rea SC Dos (big joystick drift, X lacks feedback)
- RSC Tri (light joystick drift, no RB, A lacks feedback, weird haptics)
- ReaSC 4 Ultimate (new!)

Sollte die #SteamMachine inklusive #SteamController zusammen tatsächlich mehr als 699 € kosten, kann man eigentlich davon ausgehen, dass das Ding DOA ist. Denn mit PCs um 800 bis 1000 € wird der Würfel wohl nicht konkurrieren können. Allerdings finde ich 500 € oder sogar noch weniger, wie manche behaupten, komplett unrealistisch.

I finally figured out what (positive) thing I want to say about Valve’s announcement about the new hardware.

I hope it inspires people to create new #remapping software for gamepads and other gaming devices. Interest in this area seems to have dried up since the decline of the original #SteamController, and it hasn’t really picked up again, even following the release of the #SteamDeck. While there is always room for new hardware, I don’t think we’re making the most of what we already have.

Warum ich mich so sehr auf den neuen #SteamController freue? Hatte man einmal ein #SteamDeck in der Hand, fühlt sich ein #Xbox Controller extrem eingeschränkt an. Ich hatte vor kurzem sogar den #DualSense Controller der #PS5 in der Hand und selbst der ist besser als dieser, dabei hatte ich #PlayStation gerade wegen des Controllers immer gemieden, aber jegliche Mängel scheinen mit dem DualSense beseitigt worden zu sein. Ich hatte zwar eine #PS2, aber den #DualShock Controller mochte ich nie.

I mean, look at the comment section of the Announcement Video:

People go apeshit on #Valve being able to "#ReadTheRoom":

• 'You own that hardware!'
• no mention of "#AI"
• no mention of #Subscriptions
• no mention of other bullshit
• 'Play as YOU want!'
• 'It just works!'

Tho I guess people will be disappointed the "#GabeCube" aka. #SteamMachine (2nd Gen) won't be a $499 box and neither will the #SteamFrame aka. "#VirtualGabe" and even the #SteamController aka. "#WaveGabe" will be over $99 simply because #Valve ain't gonna have the money to preorder like 10M before #launch, and also "AI" is driving price hikes for #RAM and #Flash...
