《Die Domain sei ein subtiles Zeichen der Solidarität, das nur Eingeweihte verstehen würden, schreibt das queere Projekt auf seiner Website.》

Queeres Projekt will Top-Level-Domain .meow registrieren lassen | heise online https://www.heise.de/news/ICANN-Domainvergabe-Queere-Initiative-will-meow-registrieren-lassen-11141311.html #dotMEOW #TLD #TopLevelDomain
Just scraping the #IANA assigned TLDs and the corresponding documented #nameservers. What I don't get is, why so many companies apply for a #TLD. It's not particularly cheap to apply for one of those ngTLDs, yet compared to the company sizes, it's probably pennies. Is it a prestige investment? Is it a digital resource to grab, before someone else does it?
Other than #Microsoft, #Google, and #AWS, I've rarely seen any ngTLD representing a corporation's name to actually be used in practice.
Does anyone in the #infosec community share their view?
Keine Hessen-spezifische Internetadressen in Sicht
@gytisrepecka @da5nsy OFC!
I hope that @dotmeow can offer #domains on at-cost basis for #members / users, because once a #gTLD is setup and running the cost of infrastruture to keep it up - even if it were €10k+ per month - is miniscule when divided by the amount of users and registrations.
.meow will take lessions and have fundamental policy changes: Banning #DomainParking and #DomainSquatting as well as #auctions of highly-sought-after #domains, because it is a net negative for #users, the #TLD and the rest of the internet if big companies can occupy large swaths of the internet just to commit "#AssetDenial" under dubious pretenses (#Trademark) to bad (anti-competitive) behaviour.Having domains that are not actually being used or being merely registered for resale being repossessed and registrars of said domains banned would be something I'd love.
@dotmeow @da5nsy granted, #OpenNIC does also resolve the #ICANN #rootzone, and in fact they actually went out of their way to cancel a comflicthig #TLD in their rootzone...
Obviously you'd not do a #Kickstarter campaign and try to raise $$$$$$$ in funds if you didn't want to get included in ICANNs rootzone, which paywall the hell out of gTLD applications...
If you'd like to learn why Domain Connect shall be on your radar if you are a registrar or a TLD registry, take a look at my guest post at APNIC Blog:

@marcel @cryptoparty @zalintyre ja, und juristisch wäre das was was ich nicht ohne fachanwaltliche Rücksprache versuchen würde.
Ich bin ja eher für automatisiertes Reporting:
Und in der Zwischenzeit werden die Hoster automatisch blocklisted!

Please answer if you know about TLDs/IANA:
if you really wanna #unplugtrump and don't want to have a domain in the US for anti-censorship:
if you look at https://www.iana.org/domains/root/db/chanel.html
the Sponsoring Organisation & Administrative Contact are in the EU, which is good
but the Technical Contact is in the US.
So is it then really save? and: the complete IANA /ICANN are in the US - so does it matter at all?

No big deal, but the #Wikipedia page of .ng, the #TLD of #Nigeria has a link embedded to #NIRA. The link is plain #HTTP. When opening the page, the #web server does not forward to #HTTPS.
That actually makes me think about a new feature proposal for the #Wikimedia foundation: Why don't you check if websites have a secure HTTPS endpoint, and update all links in your database? Your platform is a huge database of links, thus I'd see the responsibility (at least partially) on your end.
Thanks!
Holy smokes, luxemburgian tlds are more expensive than i thought
21 euro/year for boykisser.lu while i have boykisser.nl for only 6 euro/year.
