@heiseonline

@Quasit
> When I click on the link, a new tab opens in which I'm not logged in
Ah, it's treating it as a standard webpage link, instead of a fediverse link.
> This is probably perfectly ordinary, and something that I should understand
Absolutely not on you. This is a #UX fail in the app you're using. Some of the apps I use with my Mastodon account, including @moshidon, do a pretty good job of telling the difference, and opening fediverse posts in-app.
Which app are you using there?
Outcall is a Dubai‑focused, location‑first discovery platform built around clarity and discretion.
It brings together clean listings, clear filters, and fast search, so browsing feels simple and controlled — not noisy or confusing.
Built with a privacy‑minded approach and a focus on quality over volume.
New homepage design!
You're probably thinking to yourself, "This website is stupid, and I can't find anything."
Yes!
Microsoft is reportedly rethinking its Windows 11 AI push, scaling back intrusive Copilot integrations and reassessing Recall after strong privacy and usability backlash from power users. 🤖
The focus is shifting from “AI everywhere” toward more meaningful, less invasive features that better respect user control and data practices. 🛡️

Can the world of fancy app developers please understand, that whenever your cool app is meant to handle accounts, it should have a webfrontend that allows the user to manage his/her account via a website and not (!) the app, only? How annoying. It is all rest based anyways, is it? #apps #accounthandling #userstory #ux #itsjustbroke #rant

99% of stakeholder "ideas" are just copying a feature they saw on a competitor's product. And the features they notice most are the ones that yell at their users the loudest.
Now all software (not just consumer apps, but also metrics dashboards) yells at you, and trains you to attend to its yelling. Strategy becomes dominated by the overriding need to make the good number go up.

@baldur this makes an excellent point about #Product development and #UX in general, as proven through the fallacy of these new tools.
We haven’t magically gotten better at: understanding users, mapping coherent experiences, predicting future needs and wants, prioritizing on a grand scale, finding genuinely good and valuable problems to solve, working together as a team, resolving disagreements, building genuine alignment, visualizing the future.
It was never about making code.
When I click on "Find" and a find window opens, the cursor should already be in the window. I shouldn't have to click in the "find" window before I start typing. Looking at you Shotwell (photo manager). #UX

The inconsistency of Tahoe’s design
I even collected them all together, so the absurdity of the situation is more obvious.
It’s hard to justify Tahoe icons @ tonsky.me
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
I recommend reading the whole post. It’s an opus to how Tahoe UX design is an utter denunciation of the Macintosh Human Interface Guidelines – once considered to be the gospel of how interface design must be done.
I know it’s beating a dead horse at this pointI know it’s beating a dead horse at this point. Tahoe is a complete disgrace when it comes to user interface design. I don’t want to conflate this as denouncing Liquid Glass – although I still have issues with it. It’s how Tahoe is the worst implementation of it to the point where Mac OS isn’t what it is supposed to be.
Anyway, here’s to hoping all the changes with the leadership is all going to bear fruit sometime soon.
I’ve also realized that I might skip a mac OS version for the first time ever, esp now that I’ve successfully reverted my Mac back to Sequoia.
