FYI, after work today, I got free COVID19 and Flu shots at my local Walgreens pharmacy.
These diseases are not imaginary! Protect yourself and your loved ones!
My motivation? I caught the *real* Flu 40 years ago, when I was 32, young, healthy, and strong. The real flu is *not* a bad cold. *Not* trivial. I would have *died* if someone hadn’t taken care of me. Burning fever. Unconscious 23 out of 24 hours, for days.

I may be sore and a bit rough this weekend. I signed up for covid and flu vaccines today, and Walgreens said, "You can get up to 4 at once! Do you want to add any of these others?" So I tacked on HPV and the HepA and HepB combo shot. I ended up having to go to two separate locations, but ended up with two vaccines in each arm. I wonder if this means all my DNA is now being overwritten. :ageblobcat:

My mom never got her energy back fully after her first confirmed infection. I tried to tell her it sounded like she was dealing with #LongCovid , but she insisted she was just tired from being busy.
This time, I insisted she rest as much as possible and tried to emphasize the importance of rest when infected with #Covid19.
On day 4, I called her to check in, and she was walking the dog. 🫠
This whole time, since #VaxxedAndRelaxed and #CovidIsOver started becoming the dominant narrative, I've been trying so hard to educate my family on why they should use #LayersOfProtection and all of the risks of a covid infection - both long and short term.
They haven't really listened - though my mom wearing a mask to church when she felt sick was an improvement - and it's been exhausting.
Also,
A trust is broken when I watch people I love refuse to do something as simple as wear a #Mask to protect others from #Covid.
Like - people keep saying things like, "How can we get out of this hellscape?", and it's just - its really as simple as making sure you #MaskUp.
Literally, that alone centers community care and solidarity and is a very simple action item that protects yourself and others.
Instead, the same people I know claiming they're against #Facism and #Oppression , and say we can never trust the government (which obviously yeah), just dropped masking completely as soon as #GenocideJoe began the #VaxxedAndRelaxed / #LetItRip approach.
We can't have any kind of #Revolution if yall can't put on a mask.

I wish my family would #MaskUp in public.
However, the #VaxxedAndRelaxed propaganda has been VERY effective, and getting through to folks that #CovidIsntACold can take time and many conversations.
I'm hopeful that this means my parents and I can have more conversations on this in the future, and I hope my relative recovers soon.
I have a relative who is in ICU right now.
She's had #COVID twice (unsure of when her second infection was).
She has always had health issues (immunocompromised etc) - but now she is having seizures, and they can't get them under control.
Yesterday, while on the phone, my Dad pointed out how careful she had been prior to the #LetItRip approach.
It wasn't until the #VaxxedAndRelaxed campaign that she stopped being so cautious.
I can't confirm that her covid infections caused this - but I can say she's never had seizures before now - and she's not even 50 years old.
Would she still be in the ICU if she had never had COVID?
Maybe.
Is taking off your mask worth risking COVID - which is proven to put everyone at risk of serious complications during the acute phase and after?
Absolutely not.
She doesn't deserve this reality. No one does.
However, things began changing as mask mandates began dropping and the Biden administration began their #VaxxedAndRelaxed / #LetItRip approach to the pandemic.
My family stopped being as consistent with masking. I visited home in summer of 2021. I took a pcr before I left, masked on the plane, and took a pcr when I arrived.
I walked inside the house with a mask on (I wanted to wait until I got test results) and my mom told me not to worry about it.
I was definitely worried about it. Later in my trip she seemed confused when I put on a mask to go to the store.
It became clear my family and I were diverging on #COVIDSafety.
