I've heard union EDs here in Washington quietly say the words general strike in the past months. That's never happened before.
The big hurdle is there is a single vague clause in State law (RCW 41.56.120) that no union wants to see tested.
One thing that would go a long way would be constituents telling their state legislators they support changing the law so public sector workers can strike without fear.

Say what you will about corporate-backed voter initiatives, but I’m glad that #Rivian is supporting a ballot initiative in Washington to allow for direct sales by car manufacturers to consumers. #Tesla is the only company allowed to do this in #WA; Rivian and #Lucid can’t sell an #EV directly from their showrooms or offer test drives.

Under the current laws in WA, government officials, including police, do not have the power to immediately shut [the illegal tobacconists] down.

The Australian Council on Smoking and Health (ACOSH) has been calling for the laws to be updated for several years.

"There are other jurisdictions like South Australia and Queensland who have the political will within their states to update these laws," ACOSH chief executive Laura Hunter, said.

"They're shutting down stores, and their fines are eye-wateringly hefty.

"This isn't a tax problem, this is an enforcement problem, and the illegal tobacco trade is thriving because of outdated state laws in WA."
