Is there a way on #mastodon to see only posts in your native #language or to have all posts on your feed use #translation automatically?

I was reading a story today about #theoldnet and how if you leave an “&” symbol at the end of an #email , it means you want the recipient to reply back. Does anyone remember this or still do this today? I don’t recall that being a thing or maybe it was and I didn’t notice. Gonna tag below with adjacent words in hopes of response.

@root42 They remade the first Game Boy Castlevania on Wii and it is much much better. Either of the two following Game Boy titles are better as well. If you are counting GBA, those are all great. The NES titles play similar to the 3 GB titles, but 1 and 3 on NES are much better games. 2 is good but it is more RPG like and I would suggest playing a patched ROM to fix some of its rougher features and downfalls.

@killyourfm I don’t know what it is, but they all look the same to me, even across different genres. Maybe the dark colors all browns and reds. It all looks boring to me. What Nintendo is doing and even what third parties bring to Nintendo seem more exciting. Indies and revivals have also been so great lately. No time for the 200 hour edgy games that want to be movies, but aren’t as exciting as movies.

@Oregon_Pacifist Okay I get it now. It is similar to Mastodon in that you can setup your own real server (unlike Discord where a server is really just a chat group). I guess I was going in to it thinking that 199X was a chat group for retro games and stuff. But it is actually a host for other people who want to make their own chat group. Is that correct?

@felyashono@disabled.social Not sure why people ever thought it wouldn’t get turned on. It was in the main public iOS distro but with a warning that it was in beta form so it was up to you if you want to turn it on. Of course when it came out of beta it was going to get turned on by default, like every other iOS feature that comes out of beta.

@killyourfm I have Matrix but never knew anyone else that had it so I haven’t used it. Not sure if I can search for the group from within the app or I have to be invited.

@killyourfm I wasn’t too attracted to the official black Switch 2 (though I was going to buy one anyway)… that white Switch 2 however… take my money!

@killyourfm Even if it is not this week, something has to be going down soon. My local department stores don’t have any base model or OLED Switches. They said they are only stocking the Switch Lite. So I assume they are just waiting for Switch 2 stock in the next couple months. If my flawed deduction has any merit at all, they should be making a reveal within at least the next couple weeks.

@wildrikku I can’t remember if it was on Mac or Steam Deck, but I definitely went through something similar with Steam. It wanted exactly double the space for every game to let me install. Once it was fully installed it would be the correct size, but during install it was always taking double space.

@killyourfm I think is says not to disassemble or change any components of the anime. I guess they are purists and like accurate subs.

It really looks like they used a translation app, but then the guy writing up the book didn’t have his glasses with him that day and just did his best to figure out the characters.

@evgandr @David @SeaFury Probably goes by country, but in the states we started getting unlimited internet in 1996 for $20 a month. My mom had AOL where she had to pay hourly when she got her PowerPC 6116, but by the end of that year she was on AOL unlimited. In 99 I finally got my own Win98 PC and by that time I was on Compuserve’s $20 unlimited plan. It was still new though and not everyone had it yet, but most non elderly did. Then came MySpace in 2003…

@David @SeaFury Probably depends on region but growing up in the states I think millennials are tech savvy. Maybe some of them don’t want to deal with tech anymore, but we did in the 90s. We were absorbing it when Apple had lost all its market share. Windows 95 and 98 were our main OS growing up. We definitely had to dig into the command line from time to time.
