Well, migrating birds continue to trickle in. Recently we had a miniature fallout in our backyard. Among them this Blackburnian Warbler that surprised us and stayed for a good part of the day.

For the few brief moments this Tennessee Warbler frenetically moved about the twigs and branches next to our window picking insects from the yet unfurled leaves. What a moment of joy for us. wp.me/p71NGf-6g6

No end to the falling rain but this squirrel could care less. There are many things that are orange these days but this is the only one that counts.

Black-and-white Warbler at Swan Lake, in Markham, Ontario. Always a fun bird to watch and observe as it hunts for bugs in the trees.

Now here is a flashback moment to my Red Rose Tea 1960s Butterflies of North America booklet. My parents couldn't drink enough tea back in those days. Still have the booklet and all the memories.

There was no getting around the fact that the Hooded Crows among the ancient ruins of Rome were trying to communicate with me. At such close quarters, I was struck by the thick, sturdy bill that was not unlike that of a Raven. wp.me/p71NGf-7vP

Eastern Milksnakes are named that for the false belief that these snakes used to take milk from cows in barns.  In fact, they commonly hang out near barns where there is usually a steady supply of mice and rats, high on the list of their preferred foods.

@FrameToFrameNature Crikey, that's a lot of tree hugging that you have to do there. you'll need to go all around that tree, giving it hugs in different positions, before you leave it feeling fulfilled.

One of the most haunting places we have traveled to is our visit to the "Bridge of No Return" in the DMZ between and North Korea. Around us was the sound of birds and proof that this area has become a major wildlife sanctuary for birds because it lacks humans.
