It's very hot in London today so I'm wearing something I sewed as a test, which didn't quite work without alterations. So a safety pin has been employed! #Sewing #GarmentSewing
Can anyone recommend someone in London, ideally West London / Surrey UK area who will take crumpled cross stitch projects, press them, and frame them, even when the stitcher has got one side v close to the edge? #crossstitch #craft #Sewing
I shut down all my ads while I rebuild my website from scratch.
Anyways, now no one's buying any books.
Please buy my books. Theyโll make you laugh โ either because they're funny or because I had the audacity to charge money for such drivel. One way or the other, you'll be laughing.
Code BUYDIRECT will get you 30% off ebooks and/or audiobooks.

Imagine choosing a fediverse provider for the first time.
You're using a guided service/server/instance/community picker.
Step 1: Do you prefer a service that:
1. primarily supports a specific language
2. is regionally relevant to you (maybe a city or a country), or

Which would you click first?
(Boosts to non-English and Global South accounts are greatly appreciated.)

@Sobtanian that's a shame, it seemed like a good way to move over, I hope you find a way that works!
PLEASE BOOST: Icelandair broke two wheels off my new suitcase. I'm stuck in KEF airport in Iceland. Is the reach of Mastodon powerful enough that it can find someone nearby who can help me get a new suitcase that has dimensions that can be checked on Austrian Air? I think that's 158 cm linear.
Grown up child is due back from Uni next week. So today I am finishing mending their chest of drawers, so that it will be usable. Today I accessed the bottom drawer which was still full of toddler bedding, which shows how long it's been (oops).
I use pva glue and duct tape, the glue holds all the bits in place, and the duct tape is out of sight at the back providing extra security.
@Sobtanian I am a left handed knitter who knits English/throwing style/with yarn in right hand. When I am doing two colour stranded I hold one yarn in each hand, can you try like that, and then just drop the right hand yarn entirely? Would that work for you?
@brunogirin it does, thank you!
Also while explaining the process to my colleague she said that the duct tape is genius, so I feel justified in using it :)
Today I am enjoying my wfh lunch hour by taking Grown Up Child's broken chest of drawers to bits and gluing it back together. Apparently the use of duct tape to ensure that the glue is secure is not necessary, but I disagree.
Also, GUC is home next week so a fixed chest of drawers will be helpful!
I didn't expect that being the closest child physically to my parents would result in me taking refresher driving lessons, but given all the circumstances which are long and complicated, I am. Wish me luck. Not driven for 20+ years.
So I have finished sewing a sunhat. And wow does the rain now rain, that was some timing on my part! #Sewing #garmentsewing
Today was a post migraine working day. I did think that the migraine was early enough in the night for me to be ok to work which I was, but I wasn't great. Now I am tired and my head aches :(
@Sobtanian wow! That is amazing!
A disabled woman named Alma Bowman spent 30 months, nearly three years, in ICE custody during the first Trump regime.
The daughter of an American veteran, they revoked her status because she wrote $1200 in bad cheques twenty years ago. Which she paid back.
When she finally got out of the camps, she worked with the US government as a whistleblower to prosecute detention centre employees who were sterilizing immigrants without consent.
Who were performing unnecessary hysterectomies and tubal ligations.
She used her real name. She stood up for injustice. She tried to protect others.
Now ICE has taken her again, and the media have been largely silent.
The MAGA crowds are cheering because they have no compassion.
No one should be treated this way.
Iโm going to keep saying her name until she gets the attention she deserves. She needs to be released.
Justice for Alma.

I know it's bad form to post links to Bluesky, but one of the authors owed several thousand dollars by #Unbound has found a clause in their contract that means the new (and ever more fucked up) #Boundless doesn't own their work.
Please read this thread by Alex De Campi:

And if you were thinking about working with #Boundless or its principals: don't. #Scam
