When it rains, it pours. At least next week's talk is local--in person, which is annoying because I have to find parking, but at least it isn't in the wee hours of the morning to a symposium on the other side of the world. 😂

I think I managed to give a coherent talk to the Open Brain Science meeting in Taiwan, even thought it's a few hours past when I am usually snoring. 😁 We will find out for sure when I get the link to the recording...

I hope it was coherent, though, since I have to do another one for Korea next week at an even more ungodly hour. 😆

But I still remember one of my previous bosses giving a talk remotely to Paris at 4 am local time, showing up with a candle and nightcap. 🤣 🤣 For science!

A lot of the Father's Day images out there show a mustache and glasses, which admittedly fits my dad. But I didn't like the missing face--that hits on the "missing dad" theme which was not the case.

But he did take us out to fly kites when we were kids, and that's a memory from when I was 5 or 6 that I still cherish.

Happy Father's Day to all the hard-working dads out there, who would rather be flying a kite! ❤️

I am a fan of the story of stone soup --I read it as a kid and it stuck with me. It's a metaphor I use a lot for collaborative projects and #openscience . But I will not actually use it to open my next talk on open science. 🤣

The version I read wasn't so heavy on the trickery, and was more obvious about the importance of community efforts, and not hoarding your resources.

Ok I can see why #tokyoghoul got the buzz it did. The war on the 20th ward in season 2 is --well, the choreography and art work aren't astounding, but the storyline and parallels and back stories are *phenomenal*. The similarities and contrasts across both sides are beautifully set up.

Aww 🥰 I got thank you notes today from the classroom I did #SkypeAScientist with last week! I enjoy the conversations with the kids so much I wouldn't notice if they didn't send a thank you-- but when they do, well, it just makes my day all over again! 💜 🧠

I told them about neuro* for ~20 min and then answered questions for 20 min, about life, the universe, and career choices. 😉
