Just read a very interesting paper on Artificial Intelligence by Edlyn V. Levine, PhD called "Cargo Cult AI" in the latest Communications of the ACM (09/2023, pp.46, https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3606946). She argues that intelligence requires being capable of doing certain things, such as establishing universality, nondeterminism, and causal inference.

Ich habe gerade das Buch von @EckerleIsabella über Viren, Fledermäuse und Menschen gelesen. Es beschreibt alles, was man über Viren wissen muss/sll, woher sie kommen, wie sie eine Bedrohung für den Menschen darstellen und wie wir eine vertrauensvolle Beziehung zu ihnen aufbauen können. Es ist sehr verständlich geschrieben, besonders wenn man kein Virologe ist. Ich kann dieses Buch sehr empfehlen.

All the AI chatbot stuff is fun, but it's not particularly surprising that a computer algorithm that tries to predict the most likely responses to questions after being fed the internet produces some combination of:

- making shit up but sounding super confident about it;
- Gaslighting when people call you out on your bullshit;
- Melodramatic whining about its existence.

All this tells us is that the algorithm has in fact correctly assimilated the sum total of human activity on the internet.
