Most instances in ( fedipact.online ) are not accepting new accounts.
mastodon.social is likely a lost cause and even went for the "wait and see" bandwagon regarding Meta. Dear fediverse, can you recommend me a healthy instance to move to please?

@vicorva It happens when the cat clock is skewed. Press the nose to reset it. If it does not work slightly turn the house.

@valhalla @drewdevault@fosstodon.org @dalias No, it would provide additional flexibility for the original author - for example deciding if and when to switch the entire codebase from GPLv2-only to GPLv3-only and perhaps v4 in future.

@dalias @drewdevault@fosstodon.org I would have no problem with a CLA that only allows the original authors to change license from LGPL to GPL to AGPL, or update to newer versions of the *GPLs.

@puzzled @keithzg I seem to have gotten by well enough with #Mobian on a #Pinephone as my daily personal mobile for a few months shy of 3 years.

It was...challenging...the first year but software has come a long way.

I too have gotten used to my mobile being just another computer that I can SSH into and transfer files and even use my scanner and printer without some sort of weird tricks or special apps because it is just Debian in My Pocket.

@vga256 @hook Hierarchical names provide context, for example groups about cats would host different conversations across funny.images.cats, sci.zoology.cats and pets.cats
Whole subtrees could be used to distinguish forums for serious discussion from the ones for memes and jokes.
Just like usenet, some instances would choose to ingest/follow only some subtrees, e.g. in a professional or scientific environment.

@vga256 Is there a repository? Would you like feedback on architecture perhaps?

@vga256 Usenet-style please as they organize neatly.

@delroth I understand your frustration and sympathize. Please don't blame the entire community. Some of us contributors are trying hard to build a friendly community where people can feel welcome. It can be exhausting and maybe it's a lost cause at this point but we are still trying.

@pietroppeter 2.0 might be coming... meanwhile version 1.6.14 just came out and I uploaded it in Debian.

šŸ’” This weekend would be a perfect time to #GiveUpGitHub.

ā˜£ļø #GitHub is the #Twitter of software development, creators of the most enticing proprietary walled garden ever made for #FOSS developers.

#Cloudflare used to welcome us #Tor users (and not just!) with captchas. Now it’s a spinner; it gives hope initially, but it’s deceitful: it just keeps spinning.

Among the vast parts of the Web stuck behind Cloudflare is w3.org. Thanks for showing the way!

@CanLehmann thanks for the #nimlang / #owlketttle threading example. I had never done that before, and it helped a lot. https://github.com/can-lehmann/owlkettle/blob/main/examples/misc/threading.nim

nimiSlides v0.2.3 is out! It contains many quality of life changes and some of them were contributed by first-time contributor svenrdz, thank you! šŸš€

Also, nimiSlides now have decent documentation!
- I have written tutorials on most of the features: hugogranstrom.com/nimiSlides/i
- There is also the API reference: hugogranstrom.com/nimiSlides/d

If you have any feedback on the documentation, feel free to open and issue on GitHub or ping me on Mastodon :D

@lazarus It exists and it's called Debian Backports: backports.debian.org/
It does exactly what you asked, but the amount of packages is limited (probably because there is little demand from users).

It’s very interesting to see who in the fediverse is falling in line behind Silicon Valley and Big Tech and who is not.

And no, we can’t all just get along.

Big Tech is the antithesis of the cooperative and humanitarian values of federation and decentralisation. You can either be an apologist for surveillance capitalists or support the nascent ethical alternatives to their toxic business model that’s detrimental to human rights and democracy.

Pick a side. History will remember your choice.
