That's not what "open source" means nor the #GPL says! It literally says, "The 'source code' for a work means the preferred form of the work for making modifications to it. “Object code” means any non-source form of a work."

I recently visited Munich and the people at ISB Bayern who look after the #Moodle used by 1.5 million students in Bavarian schools. They have an #AI Back end that can be used as an alternative to the core Moodle AI Subsystem.

Apart from the impressive functionality and UI, I was veryy impressed by the commitment to #privacy, data sovereignty and most of all, making the code publicly available under the #GPL license.

Usually, what makes a #programming language special to a #programmer is not syntax, semantics, paradigm, tooling, ecosystem, performance, the big idea, nor other factors that are frequently touted by the language designers.

The programmer—the user of a language—adores it, because it suits a majority of his daily "needs" and, as such, he became "proficient" in it in due course.

In that sense, the notion of a #GPL is somewhat malleable; every language is essentially a #DSL to someone, somewhere, at some moment.

I switched from #Feeder to #ReadYou as my favorite #RSS #app. The user interface in "Read You" is much cleaner and more visually appealing. It feels more modern and intuitive, which makes browsing through articles more enjoyable. I also find the readability to be significantly better, the fonts, spacing, and layout make it easier on the eyes. Overall, it just offers a more pleasant and efficient reading experience.

"If the legal maintainer/owner of this Source-Available software has been confirmed dead by the authorities responsible for their jurisdiction, everything in this repository will automatically become licensed under GPLv3"

The current #Windows Desktop is more static than it used to be. Some tweaks like a "vertical taskbar" or #customization of the start menu for example.

A lot (approx. 200) of such relatively small things can be adjusted now by the tools from https://windhawk.net/

The source code of each module is visible directly on that web page and the modules I checked are labelled "#GPL v3.0" :-)

@pankajpatro703 One of the reasons why #Rust can be so widely adopted by businesses is the tradition to license crate as MIT + Apache 2.0.

With a few exception I can't use GPL 3 at work, so in result I don't contribute to such. GPL 3 is a trap for a business doing proprietary code.

I have to ear for my bread and bed, so I work for companies and corporations and I use source code at work. MIT or Apache let me - in exchange I contribute where I can.

I'd prefer #Rust steer clear from #GPL.

Remember, you can always slap the #GNU #GPL on a permissibly licensed work. #FreeSoftware for the win.

This application makes it easy for donation-funded websites to publish their income and expenses transparently, so donors can see exactly where their contributions go, along with the current balance, historical data, and custom time periods. 💰💵
