Using Brave Browser and really liking it! Not only it has the best privacy, it's fast. Like really noticeably snappy! Kudos to the devs for all that performance and memory tuning.

Published v0.1 of async-tiff, a Rust crate and Python library for low-level, async reading of TIFF and GeoTIFF files.

There's high potential for improved performance when opening many TIFF files concurrently, especially in Python server environments.

Wait a second: are you already coding in C++ or Python using these libraries? What are you waiting for!?

Hint: mailing lists are a good starting point ;)

If you dislike the state of Firefox, please recognize that part of the way it got there was by becoming dependent on the gravy train from Google.

It will still be years before it’s usable, but one thing you could consider is to help fund servo.org — it’s a fully independent rendering engine with some really great next-generation tech that is going to make the web a more secure, and a very large % of its contributor base comes from a worker cooperative’s members who happen to be some of the finest minds in browser technology.

The project is flourishing, and you can help it continue to chug along and even accelerate. There’s no telling if it’ll definitely become a full alternative to the current triad of chrome/safari/firefox, but we won’t find out if we don’t try. The future is what we make it.

Wow, Fiona 1.10.0 and Rasterio 1.4.0 in just a few weeks. A side effect of not being able to run this summer or fall, to be honest. I still haven't found a way to get paid to make this software all year round. Hit me up if you're ready to chip in a serious way.

@kgjenkins good to know. I use Firefox 👍

@kgjenkins that is yucky! Maybe open the PDF with Chrome or Firefox instead. They can both render PDFs on their own without Adobe.
