Thought for the day -- North and South America combined only account for 13% of the world’s population.
@scratch I’m sure it will look incredible. That’s a lot of work!
@scratch Wow!
Out learning some #virtualization stuff and had this thought:
"Azure Virtual Desktops vs. Windows 10 Virtual Machines"
Sounds like one of those postapocalyptic, martial arts movies I saw as a kid. True story.
Well, I guess I'm looking for work again! Force reductions just before Christmas. 5 years of service, big features built and released, internal awards won, and it all ends with a Zoom call. Awesome.
Anyone hiring ex-principal software engineers/architects/devmgrs who're excited about distributed identity?
If you could boost I'd appreciate it! I think making a connection on the Fediverse would be sweet.

@The_IT_Nerd I’m pretty sure this depends on the version of the devices you are using and also whether you have their Cloud Service. Older Eufy devices have no way to connect to Eufy’s cloud servers so I seriously doubt they are affected. I will check further.
The new #mesh solution will auto-adjust the channels used so WLAN Analysis will be minimal. It should come out looking “as clean as possible”, given the amount of interference I’ve got from neighbors (like everyone these days).
Well, I’ve decided my naming convention for the new mesh #wifi network. I was a #Wi-FiEngineer for a long time. This time I’m making SSIDs based on function in the network. I will have three SSIDs with “<network name>-<function>”as the name. So, that means max-legacy (for 2.4GHz only devices), max-media (for streaming devices), and max-fast (for everything else).
Bitcoin is used everyday by savers.
If you woke up with BTC in cold storage, and you decided NOT to sell it or trade it for a product or service, then you are using BTC as savings.
@majorthird That’s your #brain doing its awesome job of self-repair, indexing/assimilation, and learning from received data and experiences to turn it all into knowledge. Pretty amazing when you think about it.
@DougOfBorg If you haven’t already, you should read, “Blind Man’s Bluff: The Untold Story of American Submarine Espionage”.
@ygalanter @marcelias Try this in the #mastodon #webapp. Do a search on a #hashtag, like #news. Then pin that to another column. Pretty cool… you can pin hashtags.
@dwmetz HomeKit has always been a pain for me to mix in with all the other stuff. I too am going the #eero route but have everything running through four primary solutions. Amazon #Alexa for voice automation, Philips #Hue for lighting, #SmartLife/#Tuya for home automation, additional security and lighting, and #Nest for HVAC. Alexa does a great job of bringing it all together in one decent interface which is also one of the reasons why I’m going with eero for the new mesh network with #wifi6e.
@ocdtrekkie @badnetmask @scottc @dwmetz #wifi #wifi6e
My 2.4GHz #WLAN is reserved for all the straggler devices I use for #HomeAutomation. They just need a decent signal since they don’t pass much data. Everything else is on 5GHz or wired.
I recommend this guide to Mastodon, written by @noelle
Informative and answers questions which newcomers like me wouldn't figure on their own.
In case you missed it, Mastodon now lets you edit posts 🥳
You can edit any post you've made, and it will send a notification to people who have already interacted with it to prevent any hijinks or shenanigans. It also lets people see the previous versions.
You can access it through your server's website and some third party apps, for example iPhone/iPad app Toot! and Android app Fedilab.
(The official app doesn't yet support it, so it's another good reason to check out third party apps.)
