@CursedSilicon Oof, that isn’t normal speeds for Internet Archive. When I’m uploading CDs it’s only ever that slow if they’re being DDOS’ed or something.
You might want to bail and try in the morning.
#RetroComputing fun. These days I’m collecting old Macintosh game demos and magazine CDs at https://ClassicMacDemos.com
Tell me about your favorite beige Macintosh. I'll go first: Centris 610 ❤️.

@CursedSilicon If this succeeds, I hope you share the configuration that worked!
The SDF Computer Museum is open Mondays 10-5pm in Tukwila, WA to our BOOTSTRAP members. For details, visit https://icm.museum/join.html
@rl_dane It’s such an irrelevant little detail, but I even love the photo of the cat. It’s so pretty.
Do I remember right Snow Leopard is the first Mac OS X to actually use a cat photo in the packaging, and maybe the only one where it was included as a desktop photo?
Yo Dawg, I heard you like dongles, so we gave every model of Mac Mini different video-out ports.
(There’s a five year difference between the oldest and newest Mac Minis in this picture.)
Let’s test some Tigerbrew builds!
Some Tigerbrew packages in the Erlang ecosystem are suffering from bit rot. For the past few days I've been seeing how many can be brought back to life. ejabberd was a big victory. More to come!
Huge gratitude to @sevan, who has provided amazing support, education, and partnership on this project.
You can run ejabberd on Mac OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard again, using a freshly-updated Tigerbrew package.
Trying out some games from the MacPack (Internet Archive) and look what I ran across, a Defender clone called MacLanding.
I wonder if this guy did any more programming for the Mac?

I've finally gotten around to adding support for #InfiniteMac's new Mac OS X virtual machines to the collection of magazine cover CDs at https://classicmacdemos.com/discs/ . Should make it easier for people to try out some of the game and app demos that were distributed with 2000's-era Macintosh magazines in their browser. Fun!
New Video: Was the Macintosh LC Crummy?
This weekend I made a lot of progress on my Classic Mac OS app template in C!
I have ideas for tools I want to make (mainly for #GlobalTalk), but need a foundation to build on. AIRConfig was built on of some very basic sample code included with MPW and really not suitable for extending even as far as I went with AIRConfig
There are also full-blown frameworks like MacApp and PowerPlant, but they seem like quite a lot of complexity to learn just for small tools
I'm taking a look at this, which seems to reduce the problem to, "how to get a build of JDK 1.7 on Leopard/PowerPC", potentially even JDK 1.6. That's 0.1 versions away from the system version. https://github.com/nilsvanvelzen/mac_ppc_openjdk8u60
Does anyone know of a Java 8 JDK that will run on Mac OS X Leopard / PowerPC?
Another project I have going on this weekend is to try to make the classicmacdemos.com http mode less janky on vintage web browsers, and it's taking me back to the Bad Old Days of web development, when every single version of every single browser would render the same html differently, with effectively zero standards. Which meant arduously testing everything against a dozen or more browsers.
With a little bit of tweaking and a lot of waiting, I got the Tigerbrew formula for #Erlang to succeessfully build under Mac OS X Leopard on my eMac. eMac = "erlang Macintosh", amirite?
This weekend I found the Tigerbrew project, a fork of Homebrew for PowerPC systems. Its lead maintainer @misty is on Mastodon.
I use Homebrew every day on modern Macs, and having it available on a retro Mac feels a little bit like magic. Thanks, @misty !
Here's Python 3.10 (from 2021) running on Mac OS X Leopard (from 2007) on a G4 eMac (from 2004). Right?!
@rl_dane I'm finding religion about Leopard as I'm using it this weekend. It's pretty.
And then there's the occasional reminder that the PowerPC G4 7447 is a twenty-year-old CPU.
