Relive the 1980s in the browser, with #Apple and #NeXT operating systems.
I've finally gotten around to adding support for #InfiniteMac's new Mac OS X virtual machines to the collection of magazine cover CDs at https://classicmacdemos.com/discs/ . Should make it easier for people to try out some of the game and app demos that were distributed with 2000's-era Macintosh magazines in their browser. Fun!
John Calhoun’s Lost Mac Games
While the original Mac isn't often considered a top gaming platform, there were neverthless some very nice games for it. One of those was John Calhoun's classic shareware title Glider. (Glider can be played on Infinite Mac's emulation of System 6—look in the Games folder in the Infinite Mac disk on the De

Okay, I've cataloged the CDs from every issue of #MacFormat magazine in my collection or that I could find online, for a grand total of 101 issues. I found and posted every issue from 1994 (issue 1) through 2000 (issue 98), with a smattering of issues from later years. They can all be explored live on #InfiniteMac .
Enjoy!
Funny quirk of #InfiniteMac: it's easy to corrupt the "drive" that is stored in browser local storage, if you close the tab without ejecting the drive or shutting down the emulated Mac!
One of my favorite OSes, truly.
I enjoyed playing with it on #infinitemac: https://infinitemac.org/1989/NeXTStep%201.0
Infinite Mac now supports NeXTStep!

Interesting, RoboSport requires running at 16 colors or less, but my PowerPC machines don't go lower than 256 colors. Thinking of trying Infinite Mac.
What's the easiest way to load a .sit file into an #InfiniteMac machine? I see how to mount a CD but not add a compressed file.
Looking to add link 1 from here: https://macintoshgarden.org/games/robosport
I'm reworking https://classicmacdemos.com/ pretty significantly, so it's quicker to jump straight into playing a game or exploring a magazine CD on #InfiniteMac. I also want to focus the UX on a single visual style. What do you prefer?
I wish #InfiniteMac supported early OS X versions. I get the feeling that might be a bit out of scope for that project, though.
#InfiniteMac is a collection of oodles of #vintagemac emulators all in one place in the easiest format to run. Customizable and fast. Well done! https://infinitemac.org
These #InfiniteMac custom disk images are so fast! Booting an emulated Quadra 650, launching a pared-down System 7.5.3, and starting the Prince of Persia demo takes a smidge under two seconds.
Granted, I'm benefiting from some hot caches, but even without that. What a time to be alive.
I just added support for custom #InfiniteMac configurations to the Classic Mac Demos website, and created a custom boot image for the Abuse demo. OMG you *must* try it, it's so fast! Thank you @mihaip ! More to come.
TacOps (1994) marks the 100th game demo added to ClassicMacDemos.com since I launched the site five weeks ago! Check out that play-by-mail feature.

Next up, converting many of the games to use the new custom boot disk feature on #InfiniteMac. In the testing I've done so far, the emulation is silky smooth.
https://ClassicMacDemos.com now has 58 game demos to download and play on #VintageMacintosh computers and emulators. Ten of them can be played directly in your web browser, courtesy of #InfiniteMac. #retrogaming ftw!
I started with some of my faves: the Myth and Marathon trilogies, the Warcraft RTS games, Diablo, Total Annihilation, Unreal Tournament.
Any requests? What games do you want to see? Let me know and I'll try to hunt them down.
The ClassicMacDemos site now shows details about the actual CD a demo came from. Download the .iso or read the associated issue of the magazine at #InternetArchive, or explore the whole CD inside an #InfiniteMac browser-based emulator instance.

Sorry folks I’m posting like crazy today.
Friend of mine messaged me this:
“Infinite Mac is a collection of classic Macintosh system releases and software, all easily accessible from the comfort of a (modern) web browser.”
It’s pretty wild!
