@mntmn I'm still a big fan of pure wireguard server installed on my machines. Many routers nowadays, even home routers, have a wireguard server integration.
Very simple port forwarding is necessary if your router doesn't support wireguard.
Openvpn is of course an option too, just not as quick to configure as wireguard.

What happened today?

Behind closed doors, the Law Enforcement Working Party group approved the revised Danish Chat Control compromise with broad support. While mandatory scanning had officially been dropped, Article 4 of the new text reframes and reintroduces it by obliging providers of e-mail, chat, and messenger services to take “all appropriate risk mitigation measures”. This effectively forces providers to scan all messages, including private, end-to-end encrypted content.

The same article outlaws anonymous communication by requiring every citizen to verify their age before accessing a service, kneecapping whistleblowers, journalists, political activists, and people seeking help who depend on anonymity. Article 6 further imposes a digital house arrest and would ban minors from installing software which comes with a significant risk of grooming, such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and online games like Roblox.

What happens next?

The legislation now moves to the Coreper (Committee of Permanent Representations) for approval. Without major political objections, the Council will formally adopt its position. At this stage, both the Council and Commission unite in imposing mass surveillance on all 450 million citizens of the European Union and we enter a rushed trilogue. Unfortunately, while the mandate of the European Parliament does not suffer from the same flaws, the Parliament is traditionally known for giving in.

What now?

We raise our voices. Louder.

Happened again. It was DNS.

An astronaut watching planet earth from the space and another one pointing a gun from behind saying "it was DNS, always has been".

@skariko @Imprinted @giacomo @lcruggeri @informatica @informapirata senz'altro così.

Plasma 6.5 is out! Look forward to cool interface re-designs (rounded corners! Automatic smooth light-to-dark transitions!), features (smart KRunner searches! Pinned clipboard items!) and tons of usability and accessibility improvements:

This screenshot shows Plasma's clipboard "Klipper" and some items have stars next to them on the right, indicating they are "favorited" or "pinned", meaning they will persist to be pasted again later.

Good morning ! I just wanted to share a thought: I study in a bachelor computer ingeneering program, and many colleagues of mine use 11, and some others use Linux based

There is no *right* choice of course, specially when you just need that OS that can run your softwares.
But when it comes to learning and becoming a responsible IT Expert in the near feature, I believe nothing's as good as !

Unfortunately I see friends of mine not even putting the effort on trying

The Free Software Foundation (FSF) today announced "Librephone," a new project aimed at achieving complete mobile phone freedom for users from Google and Apple. The initiative will work to reverse engineer obstacles until its goal of a fully free mobile phone environment is realized. Can they be successful where industry leaders like Ubuntu failed previously?

Microsoft wants 2025 to be the "year of the Windows 11 PC refresh." They want up to 400 million perfectly good computers running Windows 10 to become e-waste. Why? So Microsoft can have their cake ($140-$200 for a Windows 11 license) and eat it (your data) too

It's time to switch sides, and break away from this cycle of endless upgrades. Our new guide walks you through installing a Linux-based operating system—keeping your computer secure long after Microsoft walks away

WireGuard FPGA (Hardware) implementation offers performance, latency, and power efficiency using a dedicated, parallel hardware logic which allows the cryptographic heavy lifting to be done directly in parallel hardware, removing the bottlenecks of a standard CPU based system for high throughput, low latency networking applications.

I just repaired my Pixel 8a broken screen. Got the replacement from @iFixit, great experience and documentation. I even got a replacement battery for the next year (I'm still at 320 cycles). I live in the EU, shipping took only 2 days.

Google official fingerprint sensor calibration tool works perfectly even when running @GrapheneOS rom.

Just wanted to share how good it feels to be responsible of my own hardware!

Germany's position has been reverted to UNDECIDED.

Despite expressing concerns about breaking end-to-end encryption, Germany refrained from taking a definitive stance on the Chat Control proposal during the September 12th LEWP meeting. A willingness to negotiate and compromise remains.

This is an unfortunate development as Germany is crucial to defeating Chat Control.
