In a few days, I’m traveling to Spain to begin the Heritage Lens project.

The Heritage Lens project arises from the need to address the accelerating threats that climate change poses to European cultural heritage.

The project promotes cross-collaboration between photographers, cultural heritage experts, and environmental activists.

I’m very grateful to have been selected for this initiative, and I look forward to the collaboration and research with other artists, scientists, and environmental activists.

partage du sensible (1)
— analog photography
2025

Partage du sensible is a concept developed by the French philosopher Jacques Rancière. It translates roughly to "the distribution of the sensible" and refers to the way in which our perception of the world — what we see, hear, and experience — is structured and organized.

In artistic contexts, partage du sensible highlights how art can challenge or reshape these structures. By shifting focus to overlooked details, marginalized voices, or alternative narratives, artists can create new ways of seeing and understanding the world.

I'm happy to share that I've been selected for Heritage Lens!
As part of this opportunity, I'll be undertaking a year-long research journey to Spain, Denmark, Latvia, Frisia, Italy and Poland, collaborating with artists, scientists, and activists along the way.

the other selected artist are Arianna Sanest, Constanze Flamme, Emma Charrin, Katrina Rinke, Marco Lumini, Mateusz Pecyna, Ola Skowronska, Pedro Marcano, Skander Khlif, Toivo Heinimäki, and Michaela Nagyidaiová.

Heritage Lens project arises from the need to address the accelerated threats that climate change poses to European cultural heritage.

As climate change continues to manifest in unprecedented ways, heritage faces existencial risk that affect the identity and social cohesion of European societies.

The project promotes cross-collaboration between emerging photographers, cultural heritage experts, and environmental activists, fostering a holistic understanding of the challenges and solutions associated with climate change and cultural heritage resilience.

Cultural and artistic expressions, especially through photography, offer an unique opportunity to bridge the gap between awareness and action.

The collaboration of photography centers from Italy, Latvia, Poland, and Spain combines diverse perspectives and resources, creating a transnational initiative that transcends borders and fosters a collective response to a shared challenge.

Efforts will be combined with other partners from several countries, including environmental and cultural organizations, to expand the project’s reach and maximize its potential.

Ciao, Goeie, Hello everyone! 🐦‍🔥

Some information about me and my work! I grew up in a nature reserve in Frisia, where my early interest in observing and documenting the world around me began.

I studied art at the Royal Art Academy in The Hague and Philosophy at the University of Groningen.

My art is displayed in several museum collections, and I have participated in various exhibitions and artist residencies across Europe.

After working full-time in printmaking for over 20 years, I began incorporating photography into my practice six years ago.

My work exists between the realms of photography and printmaking, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques.

In my ongoing project Orlando, I reimagine Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, using conversation and photography to explore the nuances of human identity beyond stereotypes and traditional representations.

I see photography as a powerful research tool, merging its evidential nature with emotional and human perspectives.

Collaboration is central to my practice, and for the project Fûgels, I work with artists, writers, activists, and scientists, exploring ways to combine activism, environmentalism, art, and science into an artistic project.
