The new :qgis: Elevation controller widget is going to be really helpful for exploring your elevation data. It's the equivalent of the temporal controller, but for elevation filtering. In fact it can be used in conjunction with the Temporal controller. It's now available in the nightly release. Here is an example showing Trelleborg, the Viking ring fortress in Denmark #QGIS North Road
