Finalizing my presentation for on Friday.

3 computer generated images of someone sitting in front of something tech-ish. The images are very identical, yet very different - and there are legends and mysteries around these photos... such as: their timestamp is identical to the very second! ๐Ÿค“๏ธ

Tataaaa! This is it.

A setup, using:

* a 64 GB Thumbdrive and
* a 250 GB NVMe
* both USB3.2

Feels like a local install. ๐Ÿฐ โญ
And can produce live-booting .iso offspring images in less than 5 minutes ๐Ÿคฏ (if one wants to share their setup with others) ๐Ÿคฉ = a proper backup, too btw. ๐Ÿ’พ

Photo of a USB thumbdrive and nvme-to-usb data drive, smaller than the pen next to it (as size reference). Awesome!

For my presentation & workshop in Bologna end of the week, I've put together a clean "" setup:

: with , and in and files on another USB3

Fast like a local install. Given enough RAM and CPU/GPU.

Scary how easy it is to do that.

Bonus: Creates self-replicating boot images of itself (in current configuration) in less than 5 minutes. ๐Ÿคฏ ๐Ÿ˜Ž .

Wow.

...and I was writing a short-story about , and now beat me to it:

llava LLM model is "by accident and implications of computing power", it hands over ownership to "the next big company" - instead of the original author Michael (@FFmpeg).

So with more science and professionals of all sorts "just using" some trained models... hm.

llava LLM lied about original creator of FFV1 video codec, and "handed the credits over" to Fraunhofer. Adding that they're the biggest and largest business something.

Polishing local VMs for workshop next week.

The reply from this prompt is quite interesting, .

Proposed this lightning talk for :

Long-Term LTO: Stable LTO for "generations"?

What if we could get out of the -Generations update-race?
[...]
In this short talk, I'll present on how we might actually be able to get proper "Long-Term LTO" support for certain LTO-generations.

If this sounds interesting to you, let me know! ๐Ÿ’พ ๐Ÿ’ฝ

Godfather of AI Geoffrey Hinton says: If your job requires a lot of screen time doing routine tasks, it may be wise to start thinking about your future and the chance that AI could take your job. He warns that the rich are going to be very much richer, and the poor will have to look for three jobs just to support themselves. Essentially, he is saying that AI is going to destroy our ability to survive.

@tealeg

Not surprising to read this.
As aware /#Linux user, I see this as "yet another proof" that mainstream IT (mindset) the way it's "rolled out" and promoted globally - *does NOT scale*.

Neither mid-nor-long-term.
At all.

> Support & use smaller, open setups supported by people who actually /do/ care (and know their tech) instead?

How convenience Kills Curiousity:

"We donโ€™t need more information. We have oceans of it. What we need are tools that reintroduce friction in thoughtful ways. Interfaces that donโ€™t just answer us, but provoke us. Not to make things harder for the sake of itโ€” to remind us that adult curiosity is not a default state. It must be cultivated. And right now, the culture of convenience is starving it."
