An #introduction for @litstudies might be due …

I currently serve as Acting Chair of German at KU Eichstätt in Bavaria (and am still affiliated with LMU Munich) within the Teacher Training Program and teach classes on #ChildrensLiterature and #Writing (academic and creative).

By training I'm a #LitStudies scholar interested in German, Scandinavian and English texts since the early modern era. I have written books on 17thC spiritual poetry (ohhh, those Jesuits …) and the connection between epistemic #uncertainty, #secrecy and mystery in mid-19thC novels, but also studied emblems, wordless #picturebooks and theological pamphlets.

I am currently shifting my interest even more towards the realm of children's and YA literature and working on studies dedicated to thought experiments and uncertainty in texts for children. My new major project is studying the self-fashioning and self-reflection of childrens's authors - sketches towards a #poetics of children's literature.

Been noodling around on a short, introductory manifesto of sorts about the growing importance of attribution research to our understanding of the 19th-century press. I am a leftist late(ish)-career #academic at #UNBSJ, a small east-coast #Canadian campus in Menahkwesk (Saint John NB). I teach courses in #c18 #literature, #bookhistory, #earlymodern #womenswriting, and #SFF. Current research: #copybooks. Not too active on Twitter since our strike but now it has become impossible because of a visceral gagging reflex whenever I envision Elon Musk. Let's see where this #proboscidean takes us. Or where we can take it.

Guess what?

On Mastodon, your follower/follows ratio doesn't matter. No one cares about your #clout. You don't need to build a #brand.

If you follow a bunch of people it shows that you are curious and want to hear ideas from diverse sources. Go crazy with the #follows and the #boosts. The more the better.

But feel free to #unfollow if things get overwhelming. And use #Lists to put your follows into more manageable cohorts to see what a limited group of people are posting.
