Microsoft is introducing ads into a free version of Office, which seemingly only lets users save to OneDrive.

In other news, LibreOffice is also free, doesn't have ads, and lets you save your documents wherever you want. I use it every day for my work. It is available here:

@nen i couldn't even get native linux games like Half Life 2 to run because it couldn't figure out the graphics. Again i swap to windows partition and the card is a rock star, swap to Ubuntu and nope and in the process of trying to set up the gpu stack per AMDs instructions now its just screaming at me about the repositories. Im likely just going to reinstall the os at this point.

@nen not for me it didn't. None of the games recognized it as an amd card, just a generic graphics device. Card works great on my windows partition.

So.... Apparently AMD drivers are a bit of a nightmare to get working on #Ubuntu #Linux. Somehow In the process of trying to set up my rx 6800 xt i have now broken the repositories to the point its constantly yelling at me how it is refusing to dl from one even after i removed it from the repositories listings....

#gamers as someone who is certainly not #TeamGreen, I think I might understand why its suspected that at #CES the only #Nvidia card that will have a bunch of VRAM is the 5090. The 90 series cards havent been good value to performance cards for a very long time. the things are built for #CryptoMining and #AITraining. Perhaps they are hoping that by intentionally leaving vram off the other cards that the #TechBros will leave them alone when Trump makes crypto more viable again?

Ugggg i try not to be political but fuuuuuuuuuuck. I started building a new PC in early November with the goal of slowly getting the parts through about April not thinking the orange one would win office. So now I am scrambling to get what parts I can before Jan 20th and he fucks over the entire electronics industry with an over night 60-70% price hike.... So im having to make comprimised choices with less reaserch then i hoped.

#linux #ubuntu question, noob here. Is there any way to make programs install on drives other than the primary system drive like you can do in windows? So far only way i have been able to do this is when im installing games through third party launchers. Any other software it goes right on my system drive.

While I am slowly planning my new #GamingPC i am also coming to grips that this will likely be the last i build. Let's face it we are in the end years of the hobby. #X86 is nearing its max potential. Industry is going #ARM which isn't great for gaming and cloud gaming is getting more useable by the day. Estimate about 10 years before local home computer builds are enthusiast only as everyone just has ARM based terminals and cloud game.

Ahhh the CPU for my next #pc build has arrived. Next part will be the motherboard (Gigabyte x870e pro ice) followed by ram and PSU. GPU TBD (its between intel B850, AMD 7600 or 8600) cpu and gpu are temp parts for a year or two so i can save up for top end parts at the end of AM5. #pcbuild #gamer
