There hasn’t been a single move that’s contributed to me disliking a band more than the decision to fire Jay Bennett from Wilco.
A Ghost Is Born is the album of Wilco’s I like that I listen to the least.
It was their first record without Jay, and the ONLY one I even remotely like of theirs that doesn’t have Bennett on it.
These songs are still good, but they lost something very magical when they fired him. They became completely boring and uninteresting on every possible level; entering banal sleepy dad rock mode, where they still reside to this day.
This was the last good Wilco record. Everything before was GREAT, everything after has been a steady diet of secanol.

I miss the days of dedicated music video shows and 24/7 channels. I'm sure they still exist, but it has been a long time since I've had real cable.
When I was young, my tastes were really shaped by like frequently having the VH1 24/7 digital channel on or on late weekend nights watching 120 Minutes/The Alternative on VH1 Classic, or watching Fuse's late night constant videos. Hell, they even helped influence my tastes for movies too.
Finally getting around to watching Fear Itself, Mick Garris's follow up to the great Masters of Horror with many of the same horror legends directing episodes, but unfortunately this first episode is directed by Michael Eisner's mediocre nepobaby son. I guess they can't all be legends.
At least it has the great Jesse Plemons on it.
