Human versus autonomous car race ends before it begins

the race ended before the practice lap was completed. Cameras missed the event, but the A2RL car lost traction and ended up tail-first into a wall.

"We don't have human intuition. So basically, that is one of the main challenges to drive this type of car. It's impossible today to do a correct grip estimation."

The first-ever driverless car race didn't go so well

instead of having space for a driver in the cockpit, the A2RL cars has an array of cameras, sensors and computers to drive the car.

At times, cars spun wildly on the straights, turned randomly into barriers and crashed in spectacular style.
