40 years ago this Computer was intruduced.

I wrote a german article on my website harzretro.de with not so known facts about the cpc (with #6502 :)

My first computer was a Schneider CPC 464 (had five broken #c64 before) - but that is a different story.

Here are some Amstrads for the new year. The recent "Doctor Who" episode "Wild Blue Yonder" has a CPC 464 as part of the TARDIS and the "Loki" episode "Science/Fiction" has a PCW 8256 and a crucial role for a PPC 512/640 (as well as an incidental BBC Micro).

one of the few upsides of jetlag, my body thinks it is currently about 10pm when its 3am, so I got a little z80 in before I force myself to try and sleep for work tomorrow.
the #z80 #amstrad464 game i have in mind will have a 100x100 tile map so I'll need to generate (pseudo) random numbers between 0-99 for x and y coordinates to generate it. I knocked up a quick routine based on existing code and then a small routine to display them on screen. (cyan is x, red is Y)
next: generating the map.

Some sunday morning #z80. I had a little sprite animation with joystick control test working. But it was slow slow slow. It used tons of #amstrad464 system calls to &BC1D to get xy address of screen bytes.

In second version i use 1 &BC1D call for top left tie at start, then calculate the rest based on this address. i removed the original &BC1D call and hard coded starting memory address for first tie and the player sprite ship.
Just gotta stop the flickering now.

To the amstrad cpc basic experts out there:
Using print chr$(22)+chr$(1) I can switch to transparent text.
Using tag I can position the text using the graphics cursor => pixel coordinates.
But I can't mix both. Why?

Well would you look at that..it only bloody worked.
The red border is flashing ed then black as timer has went below three seconds. I like that you can do that with a single command.

Sounds still a mystery. Really want a wee tick for the timer that speeds up as it gets closer to zero. Maybe play with that tomorrow night.

Once i manage to figure out how to convert the wav to cdt, I'll share it in case anyone wants a go.

Damn. Didnt know there were different types of key caps for amstrad cpc 464.

The keys i ordered are on the left. Keys from my cpc are on the right.

The seller stated they were 13mm. Which is what i thought mine were. Shoulda checked the picture in listing closer.

I might be able to use em. Perhaps 3d print some sort of adaptor thingy.

Anyone know a source for keycaps for 464? I hink issue 1 maybe.

Well would you look at that. My #cpc464 working on modern (ish) tv thanks to rgb scart from retro computer shack ( also got an #amiga cable from them as well)

A car cassete adaptor connected to my pc, some wintzx and big old pile of CDT files form the interwebz and we are good to go.

It's alive!
The amstrad LIVES!

Sort of.
When i got it there was no display on monitor. But the computer responded to commands , hence the sound and run "" command to start cassette player in the image.

I left monitor to warm up, and notices a tiny signal getting to it. So i cleaned to powere connection to cpc as best i could wig cotton bud. It does look like i need to use something to clean crud off. Not sure if that made a difference.

From the sellers description of the issues he had with the monitor. It shows nothing if plugged into the #amstrad464 but if he plugs a #bbcmicro into it he gets image.

The cpc outputs using din to scart, so i can go that route

But wondering about this monitor.bitd be nice to have them both work together as intended. But this i think will be a fun wee project fornthe next few months
