Hmm, Reddit's alternative front ends also seep into the front end graveyard.
they join Twitter's, Instagram's, Youtube, and Searx?
the tech giants are boiling down on such sites :blob_neutral_face:
2021 was a nice year; all the Alternative Front-ends worked. π
So, Nitter is back? π€
This one has 17 cookies, lol! :blobcatgiggle:
New #AlternativeFrontend for Tumblr blogs:
https://github.com/syeopite/priviblur
Will be integrated into Tzeentch shortly.
The #alternativefrontend movement is in full swing, but as with Mastodon instance balancing is a problem.
If too many people use a single instance it is rate-limited or banned. I made a PHP-clone of Farside.link to randomly distribute requests to available instances via Redirector plugins for browsers.
Please help maintain the list of frontends and their instances and deploy liberally, issues welcome!

Anyone know an alternative front-end for Unsplash, or Pexels, or Pixabay? :comfypeek:

I'd like to learn more about #fedilab #privacy settings with #AlternativeFrontEnd
Finally, there are tools to help you automatically redirect to an #AlternativeFrontend and learn about new ones. LibRedirect (https://libredirect.codeberg.page/) is what I currently use and recommend.
And that's what I have to say about alternative frontends! Thank you for coming to my thread talk.
I created the #AlternativeFrontend Scribe to help the internet move away from Medium. I also think it's a pretty nice reading experience. If you, like me, are occasionally forced to read articles on Medium, you can read them on Scribe instead!
Instance list here: https://git.sr.ht/~edwardloveall/scribe/tree/main/item/docs/instances.md
Many different alternative frontends exist (big list here: https://github.com/mendel5/alternative-front-ends) and I'd like to point out some of my faves.
Nitter is an #AlternativeFrontend to Twitter. Instance list here: https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/wiki/Instances
Invidious is an #AlternativeFrontend to YouTube. Instance list here: https://docs.invidious.io/instances/
I've found those services the most difficult to avoid, so these alternative frontends have been incredibly valuable.
Letβs talk about alternative frontends!
Think about centralized, proprietary platforms like Twitter or YouTube. Alternative frontends let you access that content without actually being on the platform. They are usually more protective of your privacy, a nicer experience, and help everyone transition away from centralization toward platforms that respect the user, like the fediverse!
An #AlternativeFrontend thread:
> Instagram is really annoying, and I've given enough, and I don't want to deal with it anymore. Bibliogram will remain mostly broken unless somebody steps up to fix it. The main instance, bibliogram.art, will shut down, unless somebody wants to take it over. If you want to try fixing Bibliogram, you should read through the rest of this post for helpful tips about the current situation.βcadence.moe/blog/2022-09-01-diβ¦
