The power supply of my new Leybold-Heraeus needs some technical attention: it only provides -1.46 and +5.4 Volts (instead of -10 & +10). So this 3-phase generator (from the manual) won't work ...

Today I'm going to for the @vcfe where I'm exhibiting early home computers, giving a lecture on the controversy and holding an editor-editorial meeting about the next volumes in the book series. As the icing on the cake, swap (my) analog computer for a Leyboldt-Haraeus .

Stichworte: K.I. und Energieverbrauch! 😉 Ich bringe auch einen #AnalogComputer zum Anfassen mit, den „THAT“ („THe Analog Thing“) von #anabrid. #10JahreBCBN #Barcamp #BarcampBonn #Bonn #HybridComputing #Arduino

Nice! I can now edit files in and immediately when saving with ⌘S – I’m a Mac – I see the result right beneath it in . 😊 – In case someone’s interested I’m happy to explain how to set this up.
By the way: The data visualized here was created with my „THAT“ from . 😎

Mission accomplished! ✅ Ziel war es, den THAT ( “THe Analog Thing” von anabrid) sauber, reversibel und jederzeit wieder schnell anstöpselbar mit einem Flachbandkabel über den HYBRID Port mit einem (MEGA) zu verbinden. Sketch dazu hier: github.com/anabrid/hardware/tr

Excellent! My little hybrid computing setup works fine now. 🤩 An controls the THAT („THe Analog Thing“ by anabrid) via its Hybrid port and reads out the solution of the differential equation for a damped oscillation. The data is then visualized via gnuplot on my Mac. Thanks to Prof. Bernd Ulmann for the Arduino sketch at github.com/anabrid/hardware/tr 😍🙏

Graph displaying the output of a hybrid Arduino controller, showing a decaying oscillation over time. The x-axis represents time in milliseconds, while the y-axis represents the output value. Coefficients for the model are also listed in the bottom right corner

I am very looking forward to tonights "VCC" (Vintage Computing Circle) at the HU : We will use all their machines to transform them into |s.

I will give an introductory talk about analog computers, their history, theory, and how to program them.

If you like to attend:

Starting 5pm (open end), Georgenstraße 47, 10117 Berlin, 2nd Floor, Room 2.26 "Signallabor"

Found in a thrift store. Hard to believe that people used to use this actual thing to do actual calculations to fly actual planes. #SlideRule #AnalogComputer #aviation
