Der Küstenweg zwischen Arnarstapi und Hellnar führt durch eine abwechslungsreiche Landschaft mit bizarren Felsformationen und steilen Klippen. Die geologischen Strukturen sind Zeugnisse vulkanischer Aktivitäten und Erosion über Jahrtausende. Entlang des Pfades bieten sich immer wieder Ausblicke auf den Atlantik und die vielfältige Küstenfauna.

We're on cliffs, but not terribly high ones, looking out across the sea with the curve of the dry, rocky landscape just topped with short green grass and moss travelling up the left side of the view to disappear then reappear at the horizon in a chain of more hilly but not quite mountainous land framing the water. The water is nearly flat and reflects the almost perfectly clear blue sky of above. The sun is bright but doesn't feel too warm. A few small rock formations are dotted about in the sea just off the coast but near to us, slightly down from our elevated view, is a natural rock bridge in the cove. It looks a little like a lowercase letter n with its large arch opening and we can see a smaller hole (albeit one that's likely man-sized at this scale) in the right tower of that bridge.

We've been to #Arnarstapi in #Snaefellsnes peninsula, West #Iceland twice in two different trips and every time we were there, the sea was wild like this. I loved it! What's not to love about a raging sea when you're not on or in it? I could've watched the waves crashing against the cliff all day. Too bad we had other things to see and places to go.

Well, now you have. 😀 I think the #mountain in the background is called #Stapafell and the basalt cave/bore hole under the natural bridge #Eystrigjá. Arnarstapi is located in the southern coast of #Snaefellsnes peninsula, one of my favourite places in #Iceland.
