'01 Auslese fuder #10 (winery bottles vats separately) has been gracefully aging for a while. As I work through my stash, that remains true. I love the burnished nuances here with the fine depth.For an off-dry Auslese, it's on the dry, sterner side of the scale, focused & showing minerality. It's crisp & tenser with air, and has plenty of power on the finish. I've a few left. I'm not thinking I will outlive them so no rush!

@MarkSquiresWine That's quite an interesting topic. German Auslese wines usually have some degree of sweetness. In the past, Auslese Trocken was rather uncommon, but nowadays export markets tend to prefer dry wines, so producers have developed systems to communicate this "dry" character to consumers.
In the case of Molitor, more than the asterisks, the key is the color of the capsules: white for dry, green for off-dry, and golden for sweet. #wine #germanwines #auslese #auslesetrocken

Incredibly fresh, even more so than the fine 01 Christoffel Spatlese I posted on recently. (Awesome, I have a lot left.) If tasted blind and someone said "5 years old," I might not have disagreed. This was just gorgeous, ripe and rich, yet with an underlying core of acidity that held the sugar to account and kept it from being flabby. Irresistible. Riesling is immortal?
