Steely Dan - Lost Gaucho, the 1980 Rarities

OK, this is obviously a boot (I tend not to feature those), but it contains various songs, outtakes, etc from the Gaucho sessions, including ones that never made a record (eg The Bear, The Second Arrangement, etc).

Sound quality is quite mixed (LP2 is not good), and again, boot, but good to have.

“First heard this song on a #bootleg was buying at #Chicago Old Town Headshop / #RecordStore, called Stick it in your ear. The guy ahead of me in line pulled a #gun out and told the #cashier to hand over the #money.

The owner saw what was going on ran up and jumped over the counter beating the robber until the #ChicagoCops arrived and pulled him off. I never did pay for the album, this was 1971.

Living Colour, Cult of Personality (Official Live Bootleg), 1988 on Epic

Living Colour in their prime, recorded live at T.T. The Bear’s in Cambridge (right outside central square), and including a cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Talkin’ Bout A Revolution.” I’m not sure what an “Official Live Bootleg” is – this was put out by Epic apparently – but this is a promo edition with five tracks where many of the singles of “Cult of Personality” only have three.

My copy—via A1 Records in NYC—is a demonstration only copy pressed at Carrollton with a generic sleeve and a hype sticker with catalog number EAS-1265-S2 (there’s a version with a different hype sticker but the same tracks and runout etchings).

U2, Give Me One Last Chance, 2023 on Dear Boss.

Bootleg of U2 live in Glen Helen Regional Park, San Bernadino CA, on May 30th 1983.

Dear Boss. (apparently the period is part of the label name) is a new label reissuing things that were broadcast, which means under EU law are out of copyright at this point. Not sure if this was technically an FM broadcast or not (it was released multiple times on video), but it is the set U2 played (on “Rock Day”) at the US Festival in 1983.
