How many times have I been to the Ikea nearest to me? Half my life. Yet not until last fall did I realize that there's a nature reserve smack dab behind it. Bordering the thing! Of course, it was the dog that found it. Cows are grazing in a field which appears to be a remnant of a farm. There are also a few economy buildings, like this barn. A short but delightful trail runs around a small promontory in lake Vänern. It's mindboggling how things coexist without your having an inkling. Without even belonging to a parallel universe!

When you want to fetch the tractor from the nice dry tractor barn after a friggin blizzard blew through.

The only gaps on that barn are directly under the roof which has almost a meter overhang, so it must've really blown sideways last night.

This is a small line and wash snowy landscape featuring a barn.

Barn lock was frozen because I still haven't nailed a flap over it, but it's not too cold for the butane torch yet, so I just blasted it with fire (pro tip: don't buy plastic encased locks).

Tonights forecast is -15°C with a wind chill of -22°C or so. The fireworks enthusiasts have opportunity to combine the traditional burnt hands with some frostbite.

Shoveling out the accumulated soil from this barn section, now that it's cleared of firewood.

Some of the firewood had been in there so long the bottom logs had rotted and crumbled away, so I just carted the whole nutritious treasure off to the compost pile. It was about 25 cm thick, so quite a big heap.

Underneath reddish clay floor and some roots that came from the trees outside, feasting on the decaying firewood.

Need to build shelves here for storing my treasures, as the big barn is getting mighty cluttered and needs organizing so I can shuffle things around and clean up the next section.

There's some steel pipes and various pieces of timber leaning on the sides. Near the camera and work light there are some cardboard boxes.

Outside in the snow, frost and wind, a wheelbarrow with rich brown soil mixed with hay and pieces of decaying bark and wood. The ground is criss-crossed with wheel and boot tracks.
