Magpies and Crows Are Using "Anti-Bird Spikes" to Make Their Nests

I'm going to have to retract those nest ID sites I sent... all too general or not useful.
There does exist (I think) a birding book with species specific info on nests.
I collected these four nests from around my house one autumn. You can see how much variation there is...
Cool. It is possible to narrow it down. Too many refs, so I'm including the whole query...

Never heard of Medlar before, very interesting...

Not so good pics using my phone/hard to see (Sorry!) but Very interesting that there are (8) bird nests in such Close proximity of one another in these trees ~ Wonder if it's a Family of birds, sticking close together as Autumn ebbs down & Winter's right around the corner?? Page 2 has the last pic & there are 3 nests just a branch or 2 apart from one another. Now that's what I call #Togetherness β£

"An impregnable fortress... because the #magpies appear to be using the pins exactly the same way we do: to keep other birds away from their nest."
The birds were busy building yesterday providing much distraction while my car wouldn't start... while a stranger raised me up on a trolley jack, searched for the starter motor (by the drive shaft π) and gave it a few whacks to get me started π
Edit: I shouldn't type in the sun coz I can't see the letters π
I walked through a cloud forest today and this hummingbird nest was pointed out to me. Two days ago, it had babies in it, which means that somewhere there is a happy snake with a full belly. #BirdNest #BirdNests #CloudForest #RainForest #hummingbird #CircleOfLife
"At workshops in more than 3,500 schools across India, Khatri has taught children and adults how to create #BirdNests using materials like twigs, grass, and leaves. His efforts have resulted in more than 100,000 nests being built, with a remarkable success rate of #birds returning to them."

Since "Tea Cosy" Mother Quail was such a success with visitors to this page, I thought you might like to see a small video of a quail who gained a bit of fame by nesting under a lawnmower a couple of years ago in Arizona. In it, you will see her and her four peeping chicks. π€ π€ π€
The video was originally published by the Arizona Game & Fish Department, and the lawnmower belonged to Jason and Kimberly Garde. When the couple discovered the nest, they decided that the bird had the right of way; that there was no question the lawnmower would stay put and unused so the quail could safely hatch out her eggs and the chicks could fledge.
