I was at an all-women's overnight #ttrpg retreat over the weekend and it was truly a magical experience. There's a special exuberance between women, many of us neurodivergent/queer presenting/nonconforming, when we are freed of the social expectation to compress ourselves into quiet, cheerful compliance. We were unapologetically silly, unfashionably passionate, we got LOUD and NOISY, and we took up space without a second thought. We painted to the outer lines of ourselves and beyond over our shared love of stories that spark up in the moment when souls collide. I ran a #BluebeardsBride game for the first part of the event and played in a #MouseGuard game for the second, and both went wonderfully!

I had many lovely hours discussing and playing some wonderful games in the last weeks. I should really find the time to write about them here.

Got my pdf of #OutgunnedRPG from the Kickstarter, so now I can plan out if it fits the pulp game setting I have been wanting to return to for a while.

Also re-reading #TheWatchRPG to see if I can adapt it to fit a story inspired by "House of Open Wounds" by Adrian Tchaikovsky.

Also need to re-read #RevenantSocietyRPG before I run it for the first time in a couple of weeks.

05 - RPG with great writing?

#GoodSociety might be the best-explained and most well-structured game I have ever read (especially at that length). Its great layout add to that.

#OurHaunt is best at not just explaining rules but also at demonstrating play culture. It just makes you feel accepted and supported all-around!

#BluebeardsBride is excellent at creating the desired vibe of the game and the GM role. So wonderfully creepily-complicit-making!

A supernatural horror RPG based on the French folk tale about a young womam who marries a rich older man whose previous wives have all vanished. It symbolically explores issues of feminine horror like misogyny, domestic violence, body image, beauty standards, sexual abuse, etc. It's rare for me to feel fear bleed through a game, but this one can do it. Running with safety tools is imperative.

@HeyeBodo My favorite horror game so far is #BluebeardsBride - fantastically written, easy to adjust to different lines & veils, and with great mechanics to emphasize the creepy-scary-oppressive vibe. I've also enjoyed #TrophyDark, #TrophyGold, #Lovecraftesque (2E playtest version), and parts of #TheBetween (the least explicitly horror game of this list) but I haven't spent as much time with them.

Ok so hear me out: a scenario where agents are called in to investigate the estate of a late eccentric billionaire who had a habit of dying all of his hair in various intensifies of ultramarine. They go through the house, which leads them deeper into the depths of the depravities endured and/or enjoyed by the women here.

So I have created

#NoManHills a #TTRPG which is #NotDnD but #PbtA about a single character run by every player (strongly based in #BluebeardsBride ) who is lost in an unknown city. No Man Hills uses their Moves to build the city and their inhabitans as you look for the real reason that brought you there in the first time.

#BloodstainedHands another NotDnD but #RiT to play Solo or 1 vs 1 about the crimes that stained your hands in blood and forgiveness.

And there are a bunch of another games in my head, waiting this two to be finished for real to take place.

Côté #plateau, je dirais #BattlestarGalactica, je n'y ai joué qu'une fois, mais j'ai été impressionné par le jeu.

Received my copy of #BluebeardsBride and it may be the most gorgeous RPG book I've ever owned. I buy print when I can and hardcover if possible, but this really sets a high bar. I wonder as the hobby becomes more digital if this kind of production will become more common. Making print editions desirable as objects in their own right is not something anyone can do, but I'd love to see this become a trend.
