Cooking Spaghetti with a Hammer

We use mental scripts or autopilots to streamline our lives. They can work really well, which makes it easy to fall into the trap of using a hammer to cook spaghetti.

I make farina in a pot on the stove. It takes about 5 minutes and is really easy to get it to exactly the texture I want. My spouse makes farina in the microwave, which takes about 5-6 minutes, and is really easy to screw up and get a lumpy, inedible mess. The only advantage I can see to the microwave is not having to wash a pot. We have a dishwasher.

Here's an I wish someone would make:

**vehicle windshields with automatic sun shields**

Like house windowshades that can raise or close on a timer or via remote control

It gets so hot here and I forget to run downstairs and wrestle my reflective accordioned sun shield across the windshield and under the sun visors before the interior is baking

It would be useful in even more places as global warming speeds up
