Corporations and political parties are not allies! Pride is a Riot!
"What began in the 1970s with the Stonewall Riot as a militant protest (especially by trans* people of color) against anti-queer attacks and the police, is now seen by all imaginable corporations and bourgeois parties as a major advertising event.
The commercialization of Pride provides political parties and corporations with a platform to brand themselves as allies through simple rainbowwashing and to monetize this association without actually advocating for queer people and their rights. Their presence at Pride is and remains an image stunt and has nothing to do with solidarity.
Anyone who prints transphobic hate speech, who refuses to grant asylum to queer people, who tramples on the right of self-determination of trans* people (with the "Transsexual Law"), or who exploits people to the point of death has no place at a demonstration for human rights and queer liberation!
Our existence as queer people is a threat to the patriarchal, capitalist social order. We certainly won't be handed anything for free! We must fight for and defend our rights ourselves. This requires organization and solidarity.
Especially now, when our rights are under attack from all sides, trans people and queer people of color especially need the protection and solidarity of the entire queer community and its allies. We will only win this fight together."
Join the protest, not the party!
